Excerpts Saturday! Clones, Closer, Closiest..

Just took the following photos last weekend at one of the major malls in Ozamis City and I have to say that the Chinese Clones have really intensified, this time a becoming more daring in copying Nokia and other mobile phones as close as they seemed to be with sophistication on the products made day by day. I've been featuring clones in this blog before but I never encounter this very close clones than ever.

As you can in the right inset image, side by side are Nokia 6600 Slide, 90% copied in my opinion hardware wise that it really look like the original from size and dimension except the keypad where it has Chinese character embedded and that if you are not very keen to details, you would really be fooled by it thinking that it was original. Of course, the software and User Interface (UI) is beyond question, the clones is far out in this aspects but then, a great percentage of the mass market specially in Third World Countries like Philippines doesn't know how to differentiate original from clone UI as they haven't seen what original software looks, so it wont matter, they can still do basic function of the phone like call, text or even watch TV.

The N97 on the picture is somewhat around 80% copied with just a wash out call and end key buttons but the fact that it also have a sliding form factor and QWERTY keypad underneath, its feels very much the same as that of the original. The E52 is 85% copied while the E71 White is 95% approximate. Second image inset is the E71 Gray version, again looks really close to the original, not so much for the N79 cbut my fav phone, the Nokia N86 is 95% close copied which have also a dual slider form factor.

I where Nokia or Sony Ericsson among the other mobile phone manufacturers, I will surely be mindful of the scenario and took this seriously because anytime soon, this cloners can raise capability to duplicate not only hardware components of there phone but also the software and UI in the long run. This will also serve as a call to the consumers to be mindful of this products and not to buy them as they violate international laws of intellectual property rights and infringement, and there's also a possibility of being fooled to buying this devices at the original price, common venue to get victimized, online shops and auction sites like eBay, again just be cautious and Buy Original!

N79 in Hunky Black

I've always been criticizing Nokia N79 for being to feminine, colored pitch white with pastel xpress on covers, its somewhat like a perfect device for cool and fashionista chick but not anymore, the Black, Classy and Hunky N79 have now emerged and I have to admit, it looks gorgeous and toughed.

N79 would have been a great phone to own carrying a powerful Symbian Operating System 9.3, Series 60 v3.2 Feature Pack 2 User Interface, new add on specs such as the Interchangeable Xpress-on back covers that changes the phones theme automatically to match the back's cover, Touch-sensitive Navi wheel, FM transmitter, Stereo FM radio with RDS, Photo/video editor, PIM including calendar, to-do list and printing, Standard battery, Li-Ion 1200 mAh (BL-6F) which would mean longer battery life and the Over The Air Software update which will save the phone from the horrors of Nokia Software Updater. Aside from the hardware's, the newest software and applications were also on board like the Nokia Vine among others. All the mentioned features are not found on my beloved Nokia N82 and are all good points to challenge it.

The new N79 color is dubbed as the Petrol Black with Dark Grey, Steel Grey, and Deep Plum X-Press-on Covers. This would definitely change the market position of N79 as it attracts male users and the classy business society. Will this phone topple down my love for Nokia N82, maybe, it's for you to find out in my upcoming posts.

Mobile Shop Watch de Zamboanga

Some good news for Nokia N85 and Nokia N79 watchers along the Zamboanga Peninsula, Philippines, the two powerful device have finally landed on the shore of Asia's one and only Latin City, Zamboanga. I was there again 2 days ago for a business trip and visited MobileXpress shop, the biggest mobile phone shop in the city, and find the two phones on display. As seen in the pictures I took, N85 carry a price tag of 24,595 pesos while the N79 has a 20,995 mark. Still quite expensive to me but changes in the price well surely take effect in due time.

The two phones will surely be added to the Christmast list or wishlist of Zamboanguenos, no doubt as it have gained a lot of attention from on lookers. Well Nokia's portion of the store is always flooded with watchers and window shoppers compared to competitors areas but the shelve of N85 and N79 has more pickers than the rest. I myself wish I could own N85 by Christmass (hopefully Santa Clauss can read this post and decided to give me one) c", but that remains to be seen because I still have to find out if my budget can rich that much. 24,000 pesos is a hell lot of money to raise.

Anyways for some other news, I didn't saw the N96 in the shelves this time. I cited its availability on my previous blog post before and out of curiosity, I asked the sales personnel about it. She told me they have sold all their units already and currently out of stock. Isn't it a bad time to be out of stock during Christmass season? They say that there units are on the way anytime soon and the best thing they can do as of the moment was to add buyers to the waiting list, or cast a preorder payment hmm? a lame excuse. They should have ordered additional units before they ran out of stocks. I believe though that the huge turn out sales for N96 was unexpected for them knowing how hefty it was and that the country was battered by economic recession. Well, its a lesson learn, never under estimate the buying power of the public because price never matter among powerful products like N96.

Thats it for now folks, stay tuned for more mobile shop watch.

Why Choose Nokia N79?

Of all the sprawling great featured Nseries devices from Nokia nowadays, why choose Nokia N79 than the rest?

I have been a fan of candy bar form devices ever since, I believe this design is the best when it comes to durability and stability being packed into one solid sturdy structure which will definitely counter any abuse of accidental drop among others and so well be for Nokia N79 being a candy bar itself, made to last for years but with the current situation right now where in mobile phone manufacturers introduce new devices almost every 3 months carrying new features and improve specs, enticing consumers to upgrade to new ones, will the idea of longevity still plays an important rule in choosing mobile devices? I don't think it matters anymore.

For me, one year is long enough before upgrading to new one, it seems that my thirst for better features keeps on growing everyday and every time I read about new devices and its feature, I feel in love with it and wanted to buy one, maybe its just me. c",

If we are to talk about features, most of the Nseries device now have almost the same features. Only few specs separates them and so this factor will be eliminated as well.

So with longevity and features eliminated, what will the candy bar form breams now?

Style and Price will now be its only weapon, being a candy bar, it must have a unique feature that will make it more attractive to consumers, it must be in the best price possible also, and N79 has this factors that made it attractive to consumers.

N79 have a glamorous and vibrant style. What separates this phone from the rest of the Nseries is its interchangeable Xpress-on back covers that when a new cover is placed on the phone, the theme will automatically be changed to a matching color of that of the back cover, huge step in variation and personalization. This device has definitely targeted the style conscious consumers and will be its main market.

All the newest features are on board as well, Feature Pack 2, WIFI, 5 Megapixel Carl Ziess Optics, FM transmitter, Dual Led Flash among others and will be marketed as a mid range Nseries, so the market is rather wide than elite. This phone will be the main fighter in sales for Nokia during the last quarter of the year and with Nokia N85 and N96 on the sides, Nokia retains its position on mobile market as the leading mobile company in the world. Good marketing strategy Nokia.
