Sleepy Hollow, The TV Series

Just caught my attention ladies and gents, Sleepy Hollow TV series base on the book of Washington Irving "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow". If their are things in the movie world that I remember the most, it would be crime and mystery movies and Sleepy Hollow of 1999 was one of those.

The TV series premiered on American Channel Fox on September 16, 2013 with a modern-day retelling, its now on its second season, hopefully its as interesting as the novel and movie versions.

Story Rundown

In 1781, Ichabod Crane dies in the midst of the Revolutionary War while on a mission for General George Washington. He rises from his "grave" in modern day Sleepy Hollow after the Headless Horseman, (revealed to be Death, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse), is summoned back from his watery grave by an unknown party. The resurrection of the one causes the resurrection of the other due to the intertwining of their fates as a result of their blood mixing shortly after Crane decapitated the Headless Horseman on the field of battle.

Lt. Abbie Mills begins investigating the Headless Horseman after he beheads Sheriff (Clancy Brown), Mills' mentor and partner. Mills' investigation reveals the presence of two occult groups, one for good, the other evil, in Sleepy Hollow both of which are concerned with the Four Horsemen and the associated apocalypse. The killing spree the Horseman embarks on causes Crane and Mills to team up.

As Crane's worldview is from 18th century Colonial America, some friction can be expected between him and Abbie, and also between him and the people he must now work with.

Television's Darkest Hour, Game of Thrones Season 3 Episode 9

Spoiler Alert: These blog post contains information's about the The Rains of Castamere episode, please skip this article if you have not seen it yet.

Well, it has happened ladies and gentlemen, the world have now witness the pivotal part of the Gorge R.R. Martin's infamous and controversial book series, the death of two of the most important and beloved character in the story. When I was able to read this part few months ago, I was soo devastated to the point of throwing the book across the room and curse the author. I have never read a story as cruel and as ruthless as Game of Thrones, it targets and plays around with human emotions mercilessly.

Well, I got over it in a days time or two since the Starks were not totally eradicated yet, theirs still Brand, Arya, Sansa, Rickon and Jon Snow living, though in the worst cruel situation, but who knows, one of them might bring the vengeance I wanted against the enemies, or they could as well die in no time.

Back to the television episode, I totally understand how the fans react to it specially those who have not read the book. I call it televisions darkest hour because never in the history had a TV show gained so much reaction in social networks sites, celebrities included. The shock wave was surprisingly tremendous!

Just to give you a little idea about it, here is video I found online, documenting some of the viewers reaction. The video had already 4 million views in just 3 days, imagine that!

Oh well, what happened happens. If your not a fan of the series yet, then these is the perfect opportunity to start watching from Season 1, people won't react like this if its not worth the time.

Game of Thrones, Feisty and Brilliant

I’m a type of viewer who want’s grand and spectacle when it comes to movies and television shows. I like mind blown special effects, hard hitting action stunts, and anything beyond imagining but the Game of Thrones had less of these yet I’m hooked to it like a nuts. How nuts? Very that I watched the show and read the books overnight like theirs no tomorrow.

What makes it so desiring was its unique approach on storytelling, it wasn’t like the normal fairy tale that you can predict its course; Game of Thrones was unpredictable, it’s full of twists and turns that you’ll be taken away in every eventual turns. I’ve never encounter anything like it; the story is extraordinary in its own way.

Another aspect that I like most are the characters, you can clearly see how tangible they were depicted in the world of wickedness, immorality, treachery, deceit, power, honor and love. The characters were very prevailing that you can feel a genuine hatred, grief, burden, care and love for or against them, such a marvelous work for writer Gorge R.R. Martin.

The TV series was nothing extraordinary if you compare it to a big movie production but on a television scale, its enormous when it comes to budget, graphics and special effects, cinematography, among other essential production elements but not only that, the effort to make it seemed substantially realistic was as equally impressive. The producers made it a point that they could depict nearly and truthful as possible the scenarios and backgrounds as describe in the book. Accordingly, they went to different countries to scout for perfect locations and shot the scenes there.

Anyways, I would not tell the story in this post or give any spoilers; I want everyone to discover it themselves. I also advise you to watch the TV series first so you’ll have a visual reference of the settings and the characters. So far the TV series had covered the first two books for two seasons; from here you can read volumes 3 to 5 since season 3 of the TV series is still in production and will be shown in 6 months’ time. A little bit of warning though, the TV series contains adult scenes so it won't be advisable to watch with kids.

As for me, I’m already waiting for the Book 6 and 7. I’m already very eager to know what the future holds for the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros and to my favorite characters.

Integration of Nokia mapping service on CNN’s news content

This is the result of the CNN and Nokia's multi-level international collaboration where Nokia will deliver rich mapping services to the international news network.

The collaboration harnesses the companies’ strengths in global news gathering, user-generated content, mapping technologies, and location-based services. The collaboration debuted with the use of Nokia’s 3D Maps across CNN’s platforms in its recent coverage of the British royal wedding.

"This collaboration is a great fit for us as both companies share a similar philosophy on connecting people beyond borders through the combination of compelling news content and highly sophisticated technology," said Tony Maddox, Managing Director, CNN International. "The international scale of each of our businesses makes the scope of the collaboration particularly exciting."

"Nokia and CNN share the belief that news is now mobile, powerfully democratic, and can immediately be shared by people around the world," said Jerri DeVard, Chief Marketing Officer, Nokia. "We are pleased that CNN wants to use Nokia’s innovative mapping services for its international news platforms, and we are excited to work with CNN to deliver a compelling news service to users of Nokia phones."

The collaboration also includes the CNN App for Nokia which provides mobile access to CNN's world, business, sport, entertainment and technology reporting, as well as live streaming video. The app also allows users to share CNN’s news via their own social channels, and participate in the reporting process with direct access to CNN's participatory news community, iReport. The CNN App for Nokia is available in Ovi Store.

TV Tube: The Amazing Race Asia 4, Rush Ahead

The fourth season of the most awaited and the biggest race in Asia has finally started, The Amazing Race Asia 4. I been a huge follower of this show because not only that I get to discover great places across the continent, I also get to cheer my countrymen who were competing for the grand prize.

There were two Philippine teams who were competing in this season, Richard Hardin and Richard Herrera, basketball teammates playing in the Team Pilipinas who compete in the FIBA basketball tournament and print and media models Jess and Lani who have appeared in advertisements and commercials in the Philippines. I put my bet on
Richard and Richard being a strong and competitive team but I’m also not discounting
Jess and Lani since they seemed vicious in achieving their goal. Oh well, good luck to booth and make us proud! We have not won yet so far and the farthest yet was last year where we end up second.

Like the previous seasons, the show features a large number of media personalities in their respective countries.

Wendy was a finalist in Miss Hong Kong 2006, teamed up with his boyfriend Alan who is also a celebrity.

Nadine was Miss Indonesia Earth 2009 teamed up with a long time friend Yani.
Natasha was Miss South Jakarta 2007 teamed up with her father representing Indonesia.

Dimple is a Hindi soap actress who starred in the serial Aathvaan Vachan while her friend Sunaina is an Indian TV actress, who is currently starring in Dill Mill Gayye, as well as a movie actress who starred in Hindi movie Kyun! Ho Gaya Na....

Manas finished runner-up as a contestant on the Indian reality-dating show Rakhi Ka Swayamwar, similar in format to The Bachelorette of the American series teamed up with his cousin Sahil becoming the second team that represent India.

Claire is the daughter of famous Mandopop singer William Scorpion while Michelle was a reality TV contestant on the Singaporean series S Factor. They are the youngest team to compete in the Amazing Race Asia history.

Non celebrity team contenders includes Ivan, who is from Hungary, races with his Malaysian wife Hilda and friend Ethan and Khairie representing Malaysia. There seemed to be a shortage of celebrities in Malaysia!

Leg 1 was already runned-down with Malaysian team taking the first pit stop, not surprising since it’s their bailiwick, giving them a huge advantage. The production team should have thought of other location to start the show, maybe a non competing country to make it fair to everyone!

Anyways, this is going to be fun and exciting! c”, The show gives me a good reason to watch TV again. Watch this space for updates! GO TEAM PHILIPPINES!

Fun Thursday Prison Break Season 1 Wrap Up

Among the things that keep me busy lately was my DVD marathon of Prison Break Series, a 2005 TV hit series from Fox Channel. I became a huge fan of this show when it was shown here in the Philippines 4 years ago via Studio 23 together with Alias but I lost track of it during the middle part of the season because I got assigned to do an out of town 6 month job heist. I have no regular TV access during that time because I was always on the move and was never able to catch up.
The series lasted for 4 Seasons but only Season 1 was shown here, I did promised back then that I will find a way to watch this program full hand in the future and it did came, I was able to bumped to a complete season DVD of the TV Series and started the longest DVD marathon so far in my entire existence, 2 months of swirling and dibbling to an almost 3500 hours of view time, imagine that for a feat. I did make sure that I could squeeze in at least 2 episodes every night and 4 hours during weekends.

The Season 1 was my most favorite of them all or should I say it was the only season that really got the jest, the never ending thrill, the superb brilliance of one of the character, the almost to impossible to beat scenario, the conspiracy that involves powerful people, the blooming and tragic love story, the harsh reality of prison life, the very interesting characters, the twist and turn, etc. It was like you have no other choice but to watch and follow the story episode by episode, bit by bit and you don’t want to miss anything in between.

Funny because there was even a time when I deliberately took an AWOL from my work just to watch the next episode, you just can't stop watching because it will excite you to death if you don’t. I would rather not earn anything that day than miss the next episode. c”,

The most exciting part of the Season, everything! The most heartwarming, during the day of Lincoln’s execution, and when Dr. Sarah Tancredi choose her demise for the Truth and her Love for Michael. She put her life, her family’s reputation and standing at stake out of Love. Hmmm, I think I know somebody who can do that for... Love. c”,

Of course I will not share everything to you, it would be best if you have no idea how the story went on but it was a hell like no other and I encourage everyone to watch it via DVD.

Fun Thursday! Waz Up, Small Tube!

Lot of stuffs have been going in Television this days and I wasn’t able to feature them up lately because I lost track on most of them. Hah!

First Up, American Idol! I used to be a big fan of this program before but everything change in a complete U turn, I lost interest in watching it mainly because Americans suck in choosing their Idol since for the past few years, they fail to recognized true talent but rather go with artists (things) that can bored them to death (iPhone?), it have been airing for almost a month now but it didn’t gain traction at all and was blunted with demise! Paula left the show, Simon is leaving then finally the latest buzz, it will now close permanently with this season as their last, Yey! At last! I hope Crystal Bowersox wins but I know it won’t happen knowing how Americans hate true talent! American Idol airs on QTV 11 and Star World every Wednesday and Thursday evening.

The Amazing Race 9 is on its Top 6 now, I’m still religiously following it though not mentioned much on the blog. The difference between American Idol and Amazing Race, adrenalin and never ending rush of excitement, that’s why I will still be following it for the next few years. I hope I could be part of this competition in the future, who wouldn’t want to see the world in a stroke? My beat at the moment were the Cowboys team Cord and Jet who were fast but easily lose track, Police Officers Louie and Michael who have endured to topple everyone up amidst their old age and dating couple Brent and Caite who by the way hated by the lesbian team who were very insecure of Caite. I wonder why there was no Chick team this year, I would have easily pick them as my beat. ;) The race was currently in Malaysia at the moment with racers basking in a tropical white beach. Amazing Race airs live via satellite every Monday at 7AM with a primetime telecast same day at 8PM on Star World and every Tuesday 8PM on Studio 23.

Last but not the least, a primetime soap that I’m hooked at the moment, Queen Seon Deok, a Korean Soap Opera that narrates the thrilling and exciting story of the first Queen of Silla, one of Korea’s early kingdoms. If you’re looking for a show that defies the norm, keeps you up beaten with thrill every night and will teach you how to rule the world then this is the show you are looking for. It just combined politics, history, war strategy, unique story, good cinematography and special effects on a television program thus defying the common boring visage of soap operas. I never thought I would love this show, maybe because it tackles history, politics and desire to rule the world amidst the almost too impossible scenario. Yes, I wanted to rule the world, want to earn the title as the most powerful man and be hailed by all humanity, marked that for it will come true. c”,

Every character in the story seemed to have an interesting refute specially the main antagonists, she is one of a kind, brilliant, cunning, ambitious and defies every boundaries set for a woman yet fragile as a child, a daunting combination. The main protagonist is also as cunning, intelligent and strong willed yet careless, vicious and dreamy, another daunting opposition. Who wouldn’t want to witness their clash of brilliance?

At the moment, the story is on a pivotal shift, everyone who are following it could attest how unstoppable the thrill was every night, it seemed like the soap will leave you on the edge from start to end gaining momentum day by day, exciting as it became, I’m looking forward for it every night and became the most awaited and most talked about among the people in the house. Queen Seon Deok, Tagalized version airs on GMA 7 late night.

Mobile Phones at the Amazing Race 14

I know its a bit weird but while I was watching a re-run of the 14th Season of the Amazing Race on youTube, I couldn't help but notice the phones that popped out during the race. Of course most of them were unexpected because the racers were not allowed to carry mobile phones during the race. This phones just came out mostly when they want to book for tickets or ask for directions which usually happen inside a taxi and using the driver's mobile phone.

It really is worth mentioning because almost all phones that I saw where Nokia phones no less, that accounts to 100% I believe and I have images captured to this.

First Up, the Nokia 6300/6300i. This scene was taken when the racers where in Europe, they were on a train on the way to their next destination. A team asked fellow passengers for help on the location of their next clue box and this passenger was kind enough to help them get the best direction by texting somebody.

This I believe was either the Nokia 6280 or the 6500 Slide, or could be something else. This scene was again on a train and the racers where in Europe. Trains were famous inter country transport in the continent as well as Nokia phones. A call from a passengers friend with all the complete directions, that's what this a beautiful blond girl got when asking an old flirting man.

I believe this was the Nokia 1200 handed down by a taxi driver to one of the racers. This is one of the best strategy in the Amazing Race!

Did I just saw Nokia N82 Silver Edition used by this cab driver, if it is then, he is a one lucky guy, he has the most well rounded and the best cameraphone in the world. I believe it was something else hehe!

This looks like the Black version on the Nokia N70, I might be wrong but does looks the same. Again a taxi driver caught in the act of using his phone while driving, this is illegal! c", Anyways this leg of the race was somewhere in Asia.

The Nokia 2300 was shown here with a unique rounded buttons. it didn't look clear on the captured image but in the youTube video, the rounded button was very prominent.

And this is a wrap for now, I'm really looking forward to the 15th season of the Race. It was posted on the CBS webpage that the leg will start on September and that would be a month from now. Calendar marked!

The Amazing Race 14

The 14th season of the Best Reality Series in the world, The Amazing Race ended up a month ago and I was to dumb enough to missed it. I really didn't have the slightest idea that the race was on, thanks to Star World, QTV and Studio 23 for playing deaf mute about the latest season being shown in their respective channel that I wasn't able to catch even a single episode of it. Are they like stupid or just playing moronic. Anyways, thanks to the ever reliable youTube that I was able to watch the whole series commercial free, I love youTube. c",

The race was one of the best series in the history of Amazing Race, though I find the 13th series better, this season ranks 2nd. I became a race of intellect rather than a race of force having stronger contestants being eliminated early. It was also one of the most unique combination of contestants with a deaf contestant tagged, a strong willed mother, beautiful and blond women who were not stupid, a strong old team couple, a father and son gay tandem, a midget stuntmen team and a Harvard Law graduate siblings duo.

The events that were happening in the race were rather unique in general, no Fast Forward given, their was a Blind U-Turn, physically strong teams were eliminated early and it was the only race that I like most of the teams. During the race, I didn't really took sides or appoint my favorites because its impossible to gauge them and they all seemed to be nice. There were no long lived conflicts between the teams except maybe when during the later times when a misunderstanding came out between the athletic sister team of Kisha and Jen and the mother and deaf son tandem of Margie and Luke. But I'm not taking sides either between them because I like them both and it was just a case of misunderstanding.

Anyways, a lot of unexpected things happen during the race, Margie and Luke came out as a surprise to everyone as they came out 1st place thrice, a fleet that I thought would be impossible specially that Luke was deaf and communication would be difficult but the mother took out the role of a strong woman that carry the team exceptionally during the entire race. Hats down to what Phil calls the Bionic Women because of his seemingly heroine like strength to carry a team to victories. Fab memories with this team, when Margie collapse at the 5th pit stop, she was so exhausted due to the hot temperature of Thailand, running with a rickshaw with his son Luke on it, crusing along the street of Thailand on a midday. It really proves her strong will and determination. They came down third place overall.

Tammy and Victor where the sibling lawyers. First impression of this team, I thought there were just intelligent individuals and will not last long in the race because it required physical strength also to make it through but they seemed to prove me wrong every leg. They came out to be physically fit and emotionally prepared to do it with intellect as their main weapon swiping down 4 first place and then finally taking the seat as the overall winner of the season. It was an amazing journey and very unexpected, and for that I gave them a brooding standing ovation. Well played, well planned.

The team that came out 2nd overall where the former NFL Cheerleaders, Jaime and Cara. They were two beautiful attractive women and both strong willed that's why they made it this far. There physically fit on the first impressions but I don't think they have the stamina to make it through, but then again I was wrong as they came out to be cunning team. Though Jaime have an attitude specially when dealing with people they meet during the race, Cara came out as her redeemer, enunciating her with reality that often times save them from disarray. It was a good match up between the two and they used their physical appearance to their advantage tagging them with special attention during the race.

Kisha and Jen where strong team physically being athletes in real life but they have poor judgement and feel short in the intellectual side of things that's why they just fall down on the 4th spot overall. I believe there biggest blunder was their failure to communicate, the biggest hurdle of the competition.

Mark and Michael were the midget team, though they have a height disadvantage than the other team, they came out fast and unstoppable which also became their problem. They just zoom out most of the time and do stuff without thinking for consequences. They will be remembered in the history of the Amazing Race as team with the most number of penalty, that would be 3x and the longest time, about 4 hours. There problem was coming out short on money and they were suspended twice for this because they gave personal stuffs in exchange for the service incurred during the race which is a major violation. I wonder why they run out of money all the time, they must have problem with budgeting in real life as they will came down in history also as the most broke team.

Mel and Mike where the gay father and son tandem, very odd combination. Aside from their sexual preference, they were also a weak team overall both physically, emotionally and intellectually but they manage to grab a first spot on the 4th leg of the race due to pure luck. Well, luck does play a part of the Amazing Race but rarely. On the other hand, bad luck played over to my early team favorite Brad and Victoria. Age was instantly there weakness on first glance but they bought a surprising competitive character that propel them at least 3 legs in the competition. Victoria was able to show strong sense with Brad supporting here as much as he could. They would have last longer in the competition if bad luck didn't came to play.

While the rest of the teams where rather forgettable and uninteresting. Anyways, I would be waiting for the 15th season of the race. For sure it will be as interesting as it is. To watch the Amazing Race 14, videos can be ACCESS HERE!

American Idol 8 Finale, American Idol Sucks!!

Well, well, well, its a wraps for now on to my American Idol Season 8 blog round ups, maybe this is going to be my last post about the show because I'm getting a life now hehehe, seriously, I'm not featuring the show anymore because I'm starting to hate it. Its failure to deliver great talents to victory is the main reason behind this and America doesn't know how to choose raw talents. I think Simon needs to quit the show because nobody in America listens to him anymore. Did you see his reaction when Kris Allen was called as the winner, he didn't even stand to recognize Kris, hahaha, poor guy, the legendary Simon Cowell hates him and so are the mainstream media who wants Adam Lambert to win.

In my early post, booth of them was my beat and so were Allison, Megan, Matt and Anoop but what I hate about the result was that, its very obvious that Adam was mile more talented than Kris and that matters to me because its a talent show and not a popularity culture clash show. Oh well, the show was going down anyway so this is a big farewell party victory. I'm not going to watch the show anymore and America sucks, all hail to the metal rockers!!
