Nokia Lumia 1520, Now Available In The Philippines

Nokia's very first phone tablet, the Lumia 1520, arrives in the Philippines just in time for the holidays! Its currently being sold for PhP29,400 in select retail stores, thats about PhP2,000 less than the Nokia Lumia 1020.

The 6 inch powerhouse sports a 1080p full HD display with 367 ppi pixel density - the brightest, sharpest and clearest in the market by far; a 20MP PureView camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) as well as oversampling and zooming technology similar to the Lumia 1020; Windows Phone Black, the latest software iteration bringing lots of updates and improvements; new and exclusive Nokia apps like Nokia Camera and Nokia Storyteller applications; unparalleled audio capture via Nokia Rich Recording; built in business and productivity apps like Microsoft Office for editing and sharing documents easily for maximum productivity and so much more.

I'm more interested to see the HD display of the device, most of the tech websites had already crowned it the best to date. As I've wrote in my previous blog articles, I'm very particular on the display that I did not pursue buying a particular device out of it. Well, this might also be a big factor that would make me want to buy the phone instead of the Lumia 1020. Who knows?

Anyways, if you haven't bought a shinny new device for Christmas yet, then add the Nokia Lumia 1520 to your shopping lists, its the hottest gadget in the planet at the moment with rave reviews from almost all tech sites.

The Nokia Leaked Devices and the October 22, 2013 Nokia World Event

When Nokia sent an invitation regarding their Nokia World event, the already leaked plaque mobilephone industry went even spurious with now, countless of images from several unannounced Nokia devices going around tech and blog sites making it seem like the said event is going to be huge with several products to be announced, not to mention of course, the media's enthusiasm and excitement over these products, a very unusual scenario that I haven't witness for quite sometime for the company.

So what are all these ruckus all about? Lets begin the rundown from the most significant to the least.

Nokia Lumia 2520

The suppose, first tablet device running the new Windows RT version 8.1. Rumor also has it that the device had a 10.1" 1080p screen display, 1 2.15GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 32GB storage, a 6.7MP rear camera with Carl Ziess lens, 4G LTE connectivity, micro HDMI and micro-USB port. It is said to be exclusive to Verizon Wireless in the United States for about $499.00 but with a worldwide retail counterpart.

My thoughts: If Nokia will put a full Windows 8 version on it and not just and Windows RT, then I'm sold for it most specially that I'm opting to replace my aging laptop. I need a device that could serve me in two ways, as a full blown workable laptop and a tablet where I can surf and play.

Nokia Lumia 1520

The one with the most number of leaked images yet, rumor has it that the device had on board, the latest Windows Phone 8 version which is the GDR3, a 6.0 inch screen, 1080p screen display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 32GB storage, a 20MP rear camera with Carl Ziess lens and PureView technology, 4G LTE connectivity, micro HDMI and micro-USB port.

My thoughts: Well, its about time for Nokia to step up in the game and give a head to head challenge to every size and dimension that competitors offer. I might not be a huge fan of oversize phones but the market exists. Its a perfect moment to give the competitors a run for their money.

Nokia Lumia 929

Perhaps the most recent among all the leaks, the device is said to have the latest Windows Phone 8 version which is the GDR3, a 5.0" 1080p screen display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 32GB storage, a 20MP rear camera with Carl Ziess lens and PureView technology, 4G LTE connectivity, micro HDMI and micro-USB port. More similar to the Lumia 1520 actually, but only with a smaller screen and is heading to Verizon Wireless alone.

My thoughts: Diversity I supposed. Good to know that Nokia is closely collaborating with US carriers and give these telecom companies what they want. The iPhone made it big because of this strategy, Nokia can do it as well.

Nokia Asha 500

This is said to be the latest iteration of the Nokia Asha 501 with the same features and specifications except the new design frame which is more attractive than the latter. Among the physical changes were the colorless frame around the edges and the capacitive button at the bottom.

My thoughts: Well, if Nokia would have add a few more inches on the screen to lets say the least .5inch, then it would have been a lot better. The new fluid and smooth Asha Touch interface should not be confined on a 3.0 inch phone, it deserves larger than that.

Well, the event might also include the announcement of  an Android running Nokia devices, excerpts from the imminent Microsoft acquisition or the failure of it, among other uncertainties. Only one thing is certain perhaps, that after the event, the industry will still be bombarded with device leaks and rumor, as believable or ridiculous as it may seem.
