How Nokia Could Remain Relevant In A Years Time

A lot of people were shocked when Nokia announce its partnership with Microsoft last February 11, a collaboration not only adopting Windows Mobile 7 as an operating system to add up to the present ecosystem but totally ditching out its long time partner Symbian in favor of the other in a year's time.

To be very honest, the scenario still doesn't sinked-in to me, why Nokia can afford to abandon something that made them who they are at the moment and why they cannot run and maintain several operating systems just like other manufacturers do and leave everything as it is.

We have a local famous precept here in my country wrote by our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal "Ang hindi lumingon sa pinangalingan ay hindi makakarating sa paroroonan!" to translate, the person who doesn't look back and honor his/her past cannot achieve future success... I hope this doesn't come true for Nokia who would kill Symbian and betray its million of followers.

Given the scenario and the thousands of Nokia Symbian fanatics that feels abandoned, how could Nokia remain relevant when the time comes? Well, I'm not sure because of the current state of reasoning the company have at the moment, they would rather want to leave millions of Symbian users and gain a few in exchange so I couldn't see any relevance of the company in the future. They will loss the millions of hard Symbian fanatics they have at the moment if everything is unchanged.

I know they have already issued statement retracting the sudden death scenario of Symbian saying that developments will continue on a given period of time but would it be better if Nokia continues to develop Symbian and make it an elite proprietor Operating System? It wouldn't be Nokia's main weapon to battle against iOS or Android at the moment but its weapon in the future as they will let it evolve to become a sophisticated operating system of the future by hiring the best engineers and developers. It would be best to spent millions than loss millions of followers, the very people who would be willing to adopt windows mobile 7 for a breath of fresh air if treated significantly.

The Nokia and Microsoft partnership won't last forever being two different companies, there will come a point that both will separate and when that time comes at least Nokia will have something to fall back into. This will make them relevant in the coming years, to dream about the future while dwelling at the present and looking at the past as a guide.

Internet Explorer's Hacked Vulnerability

Microsoft has warned that hackers are already exploiting the flaw, which could allow them to remotely take control of a computer running Microsoft's Windows operating system. Computer users running Internet Explorer 5.01 or the latest release, Internet Explorer 8, are not affected by the vulnerability.

"At this time, we are aware of targeted attacks attempting to use this vulnerability," Microsoft said in a security advisory. "We will continue to monitor the threat environment and update this advisory if this situation changes."

The company has not said when it would be releasing a patch to fix the flaw. The next scheduled software update is on April 13.

In January, Microsoft confirmed that hackers had exploited a vulnerability in Internet Explorer to launch a series of cyber attacks against large websites and networks, including those operated by Google and Adobe. Microsoft released an emergency update, known as an out-of-band patch, to fix the flaw.

Security experts said that as far as they were aware, details of the exploit had not been publicly posed, but that if the code were to appear online, it could force Microsoft to release an emergency patch.

Microsoft has advised computer users to disable scripting in the browser window and enable the data execution prevention feature in Internet Explorer.

Simple Guide In Buying Laptops:

I'm going to based my Guide to my own experience and knowledge thus it might not be that thorough because I'm not a computer expert nor a geek but hopefully this will help somehow.

1. Buy laptop from refutable stores and shops only. This devices can be easily tweak, thus buyers might not be able to get the original parts and components of the device bought and paid for. If you can buy the device from the manufacturers stores, the better since it will give you assurance that all parts are original.

2. Brand: It doesn't really matter for me as long as the specs are good. Right now I'm using Gateway for about 6months and so far the product serves me satisfactorily, no bug down what so ever, thank God.

3. Processor: Pick the best and the newest processor, either AMD or Intel will do. For Intel, you can either choose Core 2 Duo,Core 2 quad or Core 2 extreme while for AMD, pick the AMD Turion x2 or AMD Phenom x2. This processors will give you the best and the fastest computer performance most suitable for Internet and Games. I'm currently using AMD Turion 2x, it satisfies my Internet and Gaming needs.

4. System Memory: The most advisable would be within the 2GB - 4GB. The more the system memory, the more applications you can open without slowdown. You can open several application at a time. 2GB would be enough, because I'm using it right now and my laptop runs fast with no problem even with opening multiple applications.

5. Hard Drive Size: I recommend at least 100GB, so you can download several applications, files, pictures, music among others. All though their were now several portable memories now like Flash Drives, Memory Sticks, SD cards among others, nothing beats the hard drive memory plus the fact that portable memory devices can easily be lost or damage.

6. Optical Drives: Get the DVD of course, VCD is obsolete already and as much as possible, pick up those that were double layered with DVD burners.

7. Graphics: For the graphics, It will now depend on what you want. If your into gaming, get the best graphics for games like ATI CrossFireX and NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTX and NVIDIA Quadro, while if your into office applications, music or movies you can pick at least an ATI ATX 1200.

8. Built-n web cam is now a necessity with the likes of yahoo messenger or skype among others proliferating in the web were you can do video call for free, without a cam is a big setback.

9. WiFi is definitely a must now a days also since there are now many Wifi hotspots anywhere where you can connect in the internet for free. You are not in the groove if you have no wifi in your device.

10. Finally, buy laptops that have a complete softwares with them. An operating system with the likes if Microsoft Windows Vista, a must since this is the latest. I prefer Microsoft since there are many software upgrades and add ons based on this system. Most of the laptops I bump into were being sold without an operating systems and you end up buying them separately. Don't be fooled by this because it should be free since most of the laptops manufactured today have this operating system built-in. You must have an Anti-virus software as well, the internet world today have millions of virus software on the loose, protect your computer, protect your investment. Be safe than sorry. Get the best Anti-virus software, I will recommend Kaspersky Internet Security Suite because I'm currently using it and because it has the best reviews among the critics.
