Travel and Places: Sinulog De Clarin

If Cebu City, Philippines, had a grand and luxurious annual Sinulog Street Dance in honor of Señor Sto. Niño, Clarin, Misamis Occidental had a freestyle, boisterous, dance all you can theme, to celebrate the Holy Child's feast. Freestyle means that you can dance in whatever routine you want, shout for praise or let everything out to jive with the Sinulog beat, all day long, your choice, as long as your not physically bothering anyone else of course.

This is my second time to witness and participate in the religious celebration and I had to say that its always been devoutly gratifying. Its not everyday that you get a chance to express your praise in an upbeat way, the impact overall is ethereal and spiritually uplifting. I would really encourage everyone to try it.

Well, Sto. Niño Cathedral of Cebu City had these dance and praise sessions during the Sinulog day but with the street dance competition going on all at the same time, visitors tend to watch the latter rather than attend the session, while here in Clarin, the freestyle dancing in the church is its main attraction, so better yet come and celebrate with us.Sinulog de Clarin happens every 15th day of the month.

To give you an idea how fun the celebration is, watch this short video I made. Enjoy!

Travel and Places: Binalbal Festival of Tudela, Misamis Occidental, Philippines

"Balbal" is a Visayan term for evil creatures, "Binalbal" is the act of imitating evil creatures making the Binalbal Festival of Tudela, Misamis Occidental, Philippines, a festivity for imitating evil creatures..... in a fun way.

Tudela is a thriving coastal town located north of Mindanao, and just like any other small towns along the coast of Panguil Bay, its a breezy and reserved one except that the people here knows fun and laughter in a big devilish way.

This was the second time that I witness the festival but unlike 4 years ago, a lot had changed this year from being scary fun then to a hermaphroditic ridiculous one now. It was more like watching a gay parade lately than a boast of creative horror prowess as it was before. Well, I don't want to think that the gay population of Tudela is flourishing, but seriously, I still prefer the original concept.

Anyways, here are my best images of the festival taken from my luscious Nokia N8. Enjoy! =)

                                                  Gay Parade?

Fun and Horror as it should be!

                                            Color me creative!

                                                    Highlights!

Binalbal Festival is celebrated annually every 1st day of January.

Loreto's Beach House, Party Exclusively!

If your looking for a place to exclusively celebrate birthdays, wedding receptions, anniversaries, baptisms, among the rest of the parties ever created then your off to a good place to hold such at the Loreto's Beach House located in Lupagan, Clarin, Misamis Occidental, Philippines.

I was able to discover this place due to a birthday invitation from a family friend and found it convenient that's why it landed a spot on the blog.

What I like most about the place is its exclusivity, you get to enjoy every amenities of the beach house within your guests, the 2 fully air conditioned rooms with cable TV, swimming pool, video-k, billiard, video games, sauna and function hall capable of handling more than 200 visitors.

Ambiance-wise, its not the best place with picturesque scenery and the area is rather smallish but the assurance of you and your visitors having fun together is guaranteed.

The rent of the place for 24 hours which cost at around PhP8,000 while the 12 hour rate is around PhP4000. You can reach them via this numbers for booking; (088) 521-3597, 09209157566.
