According to the sales statistics release from AppleInsider for the first quarter of 2008, Nokia remains as the most widely brought mobile unit in the Smartphone genre. A staggering 25.30% increase in sales from last years statistics had firmly position Nokia on top among other competitors with 45.20% share of the overall market selling for about 14,588,600 units.
Second on the list is the Research In Motion company, owners of the world famous Blackberry smartphones. The company sold for about 4,331,814 units which is about 13.40% share of the total market. To far from the leading company Nokia but definitely as formidable competitor.
Third on the list is the Apple IPhone which took 5.30% of the total market share with 1,725,300 units sold. Apple start selling smartphones just last year and yet now steppe a foothold among the top smartphone companies in the world.
Fourth on the list is Sharp with 1,323,800 units sold, about 4.10% of the total market share. Sharp owns the SX862 smartphone with a revolutionary screen rotator.
Fifth on the list is the Fujitsu-Siemens with 4.10% market share and about 1,317,500 units sold. The rest with 8,982,890 unite, about 27.90% market share.
The competition becomes tougher as the year rolls by, most of this companies have products gunned to be release this year and whoever has the most innovative, the most well rounded yet the cheapest will surely took the top spot.
