The Amazing Race Asia; Pit Stop 8

A very Amazing Race Asia 3 day friends. Welcome again to my small blog.

To be honest I really wasn't able to watch episode 8 last night, I was traveling overnight, work and business reasons and I just arrive this morning without sleep. c", Im like floating right now writing this post.

Team Update: 4 Teams Left
1. Goeff and Tisha - I am very surprise with the two, I thought they are not going to make this far in the race because of the difference in their personality. Now they have finish on top for two consecutive times already that made them the strongest contender to win.
2. A.D. and Fuzzie - Another surprising team to rich this far. There a weak team, no question about that and the most lucky being able to choose easy and non physically draining tasks and finish them easily thus giving them the lead agaisnt other teams, I dont know if luck will make them win.
3. Ida and Tania - A very remarkable come back for this two gorgeous women being able to finish last in the last two legs. They truely deserve to remain in the race being able to witness their hardwork and spirit in finishing tasks. There only the other strong team that remained aside from team Philippines.
4. Sam and Vince - Forgetable and weak team, I really dont see them remarkable even if they made it this far.
5. Berni and Henry - Eliminated. I like this team before but when they start picking on Goeff and Tisha, my supports on them slowly faded. I just dont like there attitude of backstabbing team Philippines and the karma did gets on their way by doing so. To bad.

Stay tuned friends for more of my thoughts on The Amazing Race Asia 3. Good Day! c",

Love Malls: SM Megamall

Mall watching again today people c",
This time SM Megamall, located along the most famous and historical avenue in the Philippines, EDSA and at the heart of Ortigas business district, Metro Manila, Philippines. The mall was once the largest in the country, currently the third largest and the seventh largest in the world. The mall was opened in 1991 and from then became one of the most visited mall in the country until to date.
The mall has two main buildings. Building A and B that houses SM Cinemas, Ice Skating Rink, Bowling Alley, Food Court, Toy Kingdom, Shops and Botiques. It has large halls called Atrium capable of hosting big events and in-mall concerts. SM Department Store and SM Supermarket are the main feature of this malls covering a quarter of the entire mall. A unique featue of this mall is a bridgeway connecting the two main buildings. The bridgeways are lined with eateries, coffe shops and restaurants.
This is the panoramic view of the malls main facade, taken from my sisters phone Nokia 6120 Classic. Their was a bit of distortion in the image, the mall is suppose to be a staight structure but it here, the building came out as curve. c",
The Main Lobby, this is how lobbies looks like in almost all of SM Malls all over the country. Rectangular shaped, with botiques and shops on the side. This is the by the way, the tallest SM mall, a staggering 6 levels including the basement.

The Hallways is very typical but there not as wide as SM Mall Of Asia. Just enough though for people not to bump each while strolling.
Filipinos loves watching movies and Movie Time affirms this being one of the busiest part of the mall. Megamall houses 12 state of the art theaters, price at around Php80 - Php120 per ticket, depending on the accommodation and movies shown. Most of the premier nights are held here being the most accessible of all malls in the Megapolis.
Time Zone, for the young and the young at heart. Inset, a family bonding between a father and his son. Tokens are sold at around Php5 and they also have giveaways in exchange for tickets earned after every game.
The SM Megamall Ice Skating Ring, the only other Ice Skating Ring in the country aside from SM Mall Of Asia. This ring has produce world champions and the best skaters in the world.
Last but not the least, the Foodcourt. This is the biggest Foodcourt in the country occupying almost the entire basement of Building B with the widest and the most number of food choices, from local to international cuisines. Among the food stallls that I like here is "Binalot", a local food chain store that specialized the used of Banana leaves as serving plates. Best thing to do is eat with your bare hand.
Most of the pictures shown here except the panoramic view, were taken form my old phone, Nokia 6233. The images are not that good as Nokia N82. I took them by the way 6 months ago c", soo its kinda old and some areas might have change already. Stay tuned for more my dear reader, More Malls to come your way.

Ozamis City; Lots Of Love To Give

Ozamiz City is located down south of the Philippine archipelago, the city is considered as the northeast gateway of Mindanao, the country's biggest island, the center of commerce, health, transportation and education.

The cities spiritual seat of power, the Immaculate Conception Cathedral. Majority if the constituents here are Roman Catholics and this church is one of the cities most important landmark.

A normal city day, not so busy isn't it? Stroll around with ease on a non traffic scenario.

Center of Commerce, the city is a buzzling community, a host to 2 average malls, department stores, botiques, restaurants among others.

Places to Shop:

Gaisano Citi Mall, one of the cities premier. Find everything who want except a Drug Store, crazy isn't it? Small and Compact.

Geege Mall, the biggest in the city and the least number shoppers. This is the only Mall with Movie House, my favorite place to hang out. Big and Spacey.

Geege Malls centerpiece. Yes we do have escalators down here, not to old school as you think it isc",Long and Lame.

Unitop Store, home of China products from clothes to food to school supplies etc. The biggest store among Unitop chains. Cheap, Low Grade.

The newest shopping store in the city, something new yet something old. Cant believe they have no escalator. What a big disappointement.

Places to Stay:

Hotel Beatrize, you can easily identify this place being the tallest building in the city. It is a 2star hotel with airconditioned rooms ranging from 500-1,000 pesos. Just enough, nothing more.

Center of Transport, the city is the main port of entrance of passengers going to neighboring towns to as far as Lanao Del Norte, Zambonga Del Sur and Zamboanga Del Norte. By Air, Air Philippines have daily flights from Manila-Ozamis vice versa, Cebu Pacific Air will soon be serving this route as well as Philippine Airlines which well serve Cebu-Ozamis Route by July 1, 2008. By Sea, several major shipping lines served Manila and Cebu routes with the likes of Superferry, Cebu Ferries, Trans-Asia shipping lines, Carlos A. Gothong shipping lines, Sulpicio lines and Negros Navigation. Rural Transport Mindanao Inc. dominates the land transportation, with routes going to almost all regions in the island.

Places to Visit:
The Cotta Fort and Cotta Shrine
Mount Malindang Golf and Country Club

Newsreels; Jessica Soho

We were strolling around Trinoma Mall, Quezon City, Philippines one morning with my brother when we notice a little commotion at the Malls center lagoon, out of curiosity, we head over the area and find the one and only Jesicca Soho, one of my favorite news personality and one of the best news anchor in the country, taping for her weekly public service program Jessica Soho Presents. It was big surprise, being able to see one her in person, I was a big follower of her program and have been impress on the way she delivers news and interesting stories.

She was a bit healthy in real life, should I say fat, but not that big compared to what I'm used to on TV. She seems nice, smiling to everyone around her, interacting with people who wants to meet her and signimg autographs. I just dont have a paper to hand over thats why I wasn't able to have her autograph.

I took this photograph using my old Nokia 6233 camera phone while she was taping infront of the camera and my best shoot of her because of television staffs swirling around her, getting a good angle was difficult.

I wish I could meet Howie Severino too, he was my most favorite anchor of all. He approaches news and stories in a different angles, an angle that broadens your knowledge and perception of things that are happening. Most of all he loves traveling and have been featuring awesome places I never knew off and never been too. I love surprises in life and hopefully one of those is meeting Howie Severino in person, and maybe travel along with him to the best unknown places in the country. Cheers to Good Life!

Excerpts of Love

In a year of being hook to photography and stuff, I have gathered several collection of images that I snap upon seeing special people, places and events. I call it Excerpts, photos of just about anything, just about something under the sun, call it sudden. rash, uncontrolled and unplanned.

With a little knowledge on real photography, you can see how weird this images have become. c", Right now I a trying to read and enrich my knowledge on the field, I'll be glad to hear your suggestions and comments on my work with no art.

I took this photo when I was riding a jeepney from Pueblo to Department of Health Facility in Zamboanga City, Philippines. I just felt like taking a fast snapshot of this scene because it looks very disturbing to me. This kids, just 6-7 years old in my estimate, were risking their small life in riding a fully packed bicycle on their way home just to save nickles. Worse thing, their cruising on a busy street with a lot of vehicles passing by and a small slip on the passengers might cause their life. Has the citizens and the law enforcing agencies of this City realize that this is a ride of death for this kids?

A sweet smile from a Badjao Kid trying to beg some food from me while eating in a Jolibee Chain in Dipolog City, Zamboanga Del Sur, Philippines. Its an innocent smile from a kid who didn't know what shes doing and how she became an image of poverty and failure of society. All she know about was beg because her parents were doing the same. The woman at her back was her mother who never thought of doing anything useful and beneficial for the day, like working to earn money to feed her child and so forth. She was as well begging.

This are my Excerpts, the real scene, real people, real events that I am seeing in my world, call that share of everything.

Visiting Zamboanga City?

Friends, do you have plans in visiting Zamboanga City, Philippines and don't know where to stay yet, I have discovered a good and safe place to stay.

The Red Palm Pension House over at Guiwan, city suburbs. Whats best about this pension house is that its the closest to the Guiwan Bus Terminal, just 10 steps away actually, you wont definitely get lost finding this place. Aside from that, its a new facility thus the rooms and the confort room are clean and very comfortable, relaxation at its best. The pension house has 15 rooms only, most are single bed rooms while the most were 2 beds. Being near to the Bus Terminal, restaurants, convinient stores, internet cafes, pharmacy among others are just around the corner.

The facade of the Pension House, not that attractive but don't be fooled by the outside look.

This the check in area of the facility. Its small yet clean and well organize. The left part of this room is the internet cafe of the facility. A convergence of technology and hospitality in one.

Rooms are solely located on the second floor and this is the stairs on the way up. Very typical though and not an ideal place for disabled customers since they don't have ramps on the way up.

The hallways are narrow, they must have utilize more space for the rooms rather than the hallway. The place is really clean and serene as seen on this picture.

The rooms are not that stellar but its spacious and clean. This room is a single room with bathroom with hot and cold shower, aircondition, and cable TV. Soaps and clean towels are provided as well as a table and chair.

Single and Double bed rooms with hotel like amenities cost at around Php550 only, its Php300-600cheaper than regular hotels, a super saver right here.

The Amazing Race Asia; Pit Stop 7

Sorry my dear readers, I haven't really been abe to update my blog lately thats because I have been through the busiest and the worsiest month in my life. Cannot really share with you what happend, all I can say was that Its HORIBBLE. My post right now are pre scheduled and I am hoping to fill those blank Posts very soon.

Anyways today is The Amazing Race Asia Day amd I was just a bit fortunate to be able to watch episode 7 last night. They have several tasks in this episode and It was a long day for the racers. I was a bit disappointed in some of the task being to easy, hopefully excitement will be brought back on the next episode.

Team Standing:
1. Goeff and Tisha - Their very first time to reach the pitstop ahead of the league. I was happy seeing them on top and I hope they can maintain the lead on the remaining leg. They made several good decessions on this episode as they should always do to win.
2. Sam and Vince - They have been on top on the last two legs and I still am not convince on their winability.
3. A.D. and Fuzzie - This team is a big surprise for me since reaching this far in the race sinbe I perceive them as weak. I believe they are next in line to be eliminated since exhaustion have aready climb on their footstep.
4. Berni and Henry - Their audasity disturbs me, they've been very particular with Goeff and Tisha and starts to become annoying themselves. They should keep their focuss on the race rather than maligning others so they can finish first.
5. Ida and Tanya - They just unlucky for the past two episodes, and lucky enough not to be eliinated. They are a strong team, I have no doubt about it.

N82 Reader and the Mob

I'm going to feature two of the remaining applications installed on my phone. This blog is all about sharing the best of my world and I believe that this software applications are the best on its class and deserves recognition.

1. MobiReader is a third party software application that enables the users to read eBooks and eNews on mobile devices. The software can be downloaded in Mobipocket website and downloading it is FREE of charge. The software supports almost all operating softwares, Blackberry, HPC, Windows Mobile, Palm, Symbian either Series 60, 80, 90 and the UIQ's.

What I like about this application is the structure of how eBook's are read, its in a full screen window and all you have to do is scroll down as you read along not like that of Adobe PDF reader in Quick Office where you have to scroll in four directions. I find this process annoying since you have to move sideways to read a sentence and most of the time I got lost along the way while doing this. Most of the eBooks I downloaded before were PDF files, so you have no choice but to read it using Adobe.

Kudos to the people behind this application, you really love reading that's why you made ways for it be easy and comfortable using mobile phones. Access this site: www.mobipocket.com to download the software and drop by their library, there selling eBooks in there as well as FREE downloadable files.

2. Mobbler is a last.fm radio player and scrobbler for Nokia S60 3rd edition smartphones. It allows you to listen to your last.fm radio stations and to scrobble tracks played using the Nokia S60 Music Player. Music player scrobbling can be done both whilst you listen, or queued offline to be submitted later. In other words, this is a 3rd party software application that enable you to access your Last.Fm account and keeps track of the music you listen to by scrobbling it. Last.Fm by the way is a social network and music recommendation engine. It is use to discover new music, build a personal radio station, and connect to others with similar tastes.

The following are the features of Mobbler which will make scrobbling Last.Fm easier and enjoyable.

a. Tag/Artist were you can simply enter in an artist or tag and it automatically tune into a streaming Internet radio station customised around the entry.
b. User - This is a station that Last.FM creates and customized based on the listening habits of the user.
c. Love Tracks - In here, you can love or ban certain tracks, depending on whether or not you like them. This station consists of all the tracks you have ever marked as ‘loved’.

The only word I say about this application, i LOVE it. The fact that I will be able to choose the kind of song I want to hear, the artist I want to listen, to be able to create my own FM station and share them to others, are nothing but a work of brilliance and Last.Fm is fantastic, a work of art. I have been using this application for only 3 days and have already been loving every moment of it. I would really recommend this applications to everyone. If your a music lover like me, this is a perfect tool for you.

News Things Keeps Coming!!

My recent trip to Mega Manila, Philippines was a big bliss, a lot of new things came up, some shocking while some a bobo c",

New things, I bought my well loved phone. Nokia N82, sorry guys, my N82 fever have not passed yet, bear with me on this again. c", New experiences, new landmarks opened, new places discovered, new love life? hhhmmmm secret! haha..

Anyways, to top them all up is the newly opened Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA 3) that greated us upon arrival. My brother and I took an Air Philippines flight from Ozamis City, they have promotional sale on tickets that time and we were fortunate enough to avail it. Thank you Air Philippines, keep the sale going, bravo! I just don't like your planes though, they looked old and creepy, better have them renovated at least.

NAIA 3 a biggest and the most spacious terminal I've been to, this picture will tell all. I have this picture taken from my old Nokia 6233, so its kinda blurred but you can still see the details. This is only the arrival area of the terminal, yet you can see how huge it was and ceiling, highly enourmous, the man in the middle will serve as a reference. My rough estimate, the whole structure is 4 story high with a spand of 1 kilometers in width.

This is how the terminal looks like at around 5am in the morning. I took this photos on my way home with my new mobile phone, Nokia N82. This is just half of the buildings height, having a flyover erected for vehicles, it separates the departure area's entrance, upper part and the arrival area's exit below.

Their were two airline companies using this terminal, Cebu Pacific Air, the countries leading domestic airline and Air Philippines, a sister company of Philippine Airlines, the countries number one international fleet. This is the checking area, Cebu Pacific way. Look at the ceiling, the design is top notch, and the floor, shining and shimmering.

This is the hallway on the way to the waiting area. Wide and huge. This is a perfect place to skid around during delayed flights. Air Philippines is good on this, they keep you glued to as much as 5 hours delay and worse flight cancellation. Roaming around the building keeps me busy while waiting for my flight. WIFI connection by the way is worse in this place, browsing the web is rather slow or many times connection failed.

I love this place, the seats are very comfortable, and you can lie down and sleep, that if there's no other passengers around. Just don't forget to set your alarm 3o minutes before your scheduled flight, or else you will miss it.

More on the new stuffs in my future blogs. Stay Tuned. c",

The Illusionist, Love Review

I was able to watch The Illusionist in Star Movies recently, it was more like an accident, mere chance, I was just surfing the channels and came across a scene where the lead character perform awesome magic, a trick, an illusion. It gave me enough reason to watch the rest. The lead stars of the film was an added bonus also, Edward Norton of the Incredible Hulk flare, knowing how bad his performance was in that film, I was curious how he acts on the Illusionist. Jessica Beil was a strong influence to, one of hollywoods prettiest faces.

Overall impression of the film, 6 out of 10, a nicely crafted film but a bit predictable. Its like you knew the plot already and how the story ends and I was dumb right, I did predict how the film ended but the thrill that came before the final scenario was worth noting. How the Illusionist crafted his greatest escape was the movie's high points and I have to give complement to Edward Norton's performance, it was way better compared to Incredible Hulk.

The movie was about an Illusionist, a very good one that made enough raves that even a crown prince envied. The prince tried to malign him but failed and the worsiest scenario of them all, he fell in love with the crown prince's fiancee. It was that love that made him orchestrate a great escape not only of him but of the crown prince's fiancee. An act that ends as disaster in one of the character, the act that I felt unfair in one of the character also. Whoever those character may be, that you'll have to find out because I want you to watch the film. Their are awesome scenes in the film specially the magic tricks.

Catch the film on Star Movies, they have run down showing of the film for limited dates only. Check their website for screening times.. http://www.startv.com/movies/

Why Choose Nokia N79?

Of all the sprawling great featured Nseries devices from Nokia nowadays, why choose Nokia N79 than the rest?

I have been a fan of candy bar form devices ever since, I believe this design is the best when it comes to durability and stability being packed into one solid sturdy structure which will definitely counter any abuse of accidental drop among others and so well be for Nokia N79 being a candy bar itself, made to last for years but with the current situation right now where in mobile phone manufacturers introduce new devices almost every 3 months carrying new features and improve specs, enticing consumers to upgrade to new ones, will the idea of longevity still plays an important rule in choosing mobile devices? I don't think it matters anymore.

For me, one year is long enough before upgrading to new one, it seems that my thirst for better features keeps on growing everyday and every time I read about new devices and its feature, I feel in love with it and wanted to buy one, maybe its just me. c",

If we are to talk about features, most of the Nseries device now have almost the same features. Only few specs separates them and so this factor will be eliminated as well.

So with longevity and features eliminated, what will the candy bar form breams now?

Style and Price will now be its only weapon, being a candy bar, it must have a unique feature that will make it more attractive to consumers, it must be in the best price possible also, and N79 has this factors that made it attractive to consumers.

N79 have a glamorous and vibrant style. What separates this phone from the rest of the Nseries is its interchangeable Xpress-on back covers that when a new cover is placed on the phone, the theme will automatically be changed to a matching color of that of the back cover, huge step in variation and personalization. This device has definitely targeted the style conscious consumers and will be its main market.

All the newest features are on board as well, Feature Pack 2, WIFI, 5 Megapixel Carl Ziess Optics, FM transmitter, Dual Led Flash among others and will be marketed as a mid range Nseries, so the market is rather wide than elite. This phone will be the main fighter in sales for Nokia during the last quarter of the year and with Nokia N85 and N96 on the sides, Nokia retains its position on mobile market as the leading mobile company in the world. Good marketing strategy Nokia.
