Movie Time!

Not a movie article but a movie house feature, my very first, as you might have notice, my topics are out of this world, none the norm, well I like to go beyond the regular blog topics, hehehe, as I thought it is, but anyways here a unique feature in my opinion.

Movie house lobbies, that's because I cant afford to buy a ticket during this time so obviously I cant take pictures of the inner part, haha, but anyways here it is. By the way I took this images using the all powerful Nokia N82 in an automatic mode, no photo editing done and I have to site this every now and then because other images in this blog were taken from my old phones, Nokia 6233 and Nokia 6120 Classic.

The IMAX Theater, SM Mall Of Asia, Pasay City, Philippines.

Ticket Booth. The very place I hate in movie houses because they take my money away. c",

Chill Lounge? How did the Now Showing, Next Picture and Coming Soon becomes chilly. Maybe the bubbles.

More red. This place is really great, classy and serene. I just cant include ambiance in my snap shot, sorry..

Okay, this area here is still part of the lobby but fully dedicated to San Miguel Beer company, and for people who doesn't know, its the biggest beer company in Philippines and I love beer.

The SM Cinema Lobby, Regular, Non IMAX Edition.

They have different names with this lobbies. O forgot the name of this one hehe, sorry. Well call it the Green Lane, I'll be very glad if anybody can identify this for me.

The Orange Lane?

The Lavender Lane?

More weird stuff my dear readers. c",

American Idol 8 Top 36

Another season of the American Idol started 2 months ago and they are now down to 36 finalist battling their way to the Top 12 slot. Their have been several changes in the show and one of them is the pre qualifying round where in the top 36 contestants where divided into three groups with each group competing for top 3 slots in the final 12. After the three groups have presented, 9 finalist will emerge while a wild card night will be staged where in the top 3 wild card finalist will complete the remaining 3 slot in the top 12.

This week, the first group of 12 finalist have already presented and America have already voted to ark the first three finalist to the top 12. The finalist where Danny Gokey, Alexis Grace and Michael Sarver.

I personally like Tatiana Nicole Del Toro from San Juan Puerto Rico but she did not made it to the Top 3. It was her drama stints that turned out to be fun and hilarious, not annoying like Simon thinks captured my attention and support for her. She was a unique contestant and that made her shine among others. Hopefully she will be given a chance in the wild card so the fun continuous.

Anoop Desai was also one of my early favorites and knowing that he is 20thousand shy from the Michael Sarver, the last 3 finalist to grab the spot on the top 12, he really deserve another shoot on the wild card.

I find the elimination round this year an exciting one becuase it would gave each contestant a spotlight to showcase their talent and then judge base on that chance and it would also somehow establish fan base for the contestants as early as possible. This would help them create a more exciting top 12 finalist since it voting will definitely clash among the viewers.

Its early right now to cast my prediction as to who will win the game, last year we were all the way David Archuleta in the house but then he was a breath shy to the grand title. Maybe thats the reason also why I refuse to choose my early bet.

More of the American Idol next week as the 2nd batch clashed. Chao Folks!

American Idol Season 8

Another season of America's number one singing competition was now on going, it has been in the tube for 3 weeks and currently on the Hollywood Elimination round looking for the Top 24 contestants. I have been a big fan of this show specially during the audition legs and so far it has serve what it do best, entertain.

The set up this year I would say is a bit different, having a fourth judge really brought some new things, new comments and new views. I also believe that it made one of the judge opinion over shadowed.

Of all the contestant that made it so far on the elimination leg, I could not see any standout yet not like last year when there were already a few exceptional talents you can chide even on audition legs. So could this mean that America is running out of talented singers, maybe, being in search for music superstars for almost a decade would really mean that most of the singers have auditioned already in the past and have failed, or maybe because the best and outstanding talents did not audition this year and were preparing for the next season. Oh well, whatever it might be, I'm still be looking forward to this seasons competition and particularly be featuring events that were happening specially on the Top 12 leg.

American Idol will be brought here in the Philippines live via satellite by QTV, a sister station of GMA 7 and Star World, an Singaporean base Cable channel. QTV will air the show every Tuesday and Wednesday at 6PM with replays on 8PM same day and a run down on weekends.

Nokia Reveals New Handsets! Next!

Some more new handsets from Nokia folks!

The Nokia 6710 Navigator, a slider device fully dedicated to Maps and Navigation with a powerful side bit 5MP Carl Zeiss camera, lethal combination for heavy travelers with lives mostly on the go. It will be one of the earliest device to be marketed with Nokia Map 3.0 on board, a more accurate and reliable map with added feature such as 3D images of well known buildings, landmarks among others. GPS is also present, integrated compass pedestrian guidance, Navigator key that lets you access to locations, maps and routes, zoom area for easy browsing and easy zooming of maps and images, Maps support in Calendar, Contacts and Gallery among others.

Aside from traveling gadgets on board, this device runs Symbian OS, S60 rel. 3.2 and houses a High Speed Internet Access via 3.5G HSDPA and WIFI, 2.6 inches QVGA, remarkable screen size change in mid range phones, 16million color resolution, music player, 3.5mm audio jack among others. Very much similar to N-Series in specs rather but this phone will be sold under the mid range category. The biggest strenght of this phone which is Map and Navigation cannot be access full strenght here in the Philippines thats I'm not very much enthusiastic about this. If only Nokia can improve Philippine Maps on its navigation tool, I would have recommend this phone to majority of my readers, cool Pinoys.

Last but not the least, the Nokia 6720 Classic, a mid teir powerhouse that runs Symbian OS, S60 rel. 3.2, ARM 11 with 600Mhz speed, 2.2 inch QVGA screen, 16 million color resolution, 3.5G HSDPA, Bluetooth, 5MP Carl Zeiss camera with autofocus, Dual LED Flash, built in GPS, Nokia Maps 3.0, Stereo FM with RDS, Music player that supports MP3/MP4/eAAC+/WMA files, 3.5mm Audio Jack, Bluetooth, Active Noise Cancellation, Ambient Light Sensor, N-Gage gaming flatform among others.

With several features and specs on board anf cheap price, their is no reason why this phone wont hit the market point blank, in fact this might sold highier than 6710 Navigator in my prediction. The line between the flagship N-Series devices and mid teir devices have now become shorter than ever and it wont be long enough that this two segments of Nokia will combine in to one.

Another 5800 XpressMusic Update!

Firmware Upgrade on 5800 XpressMusic can now be access using the Nokia Software Updater. Few changes have been known already and we are expecting its full changelog to be available in a few days. I can still remember my brother downloading the entire NSU on his phone and then complain why it didn't install, c", such a neophytes hahaha, for sure it can't be installed on his phone because its not compatible, NSU were only created to run in pc and not on phone. Anyways with a little explanation, he now knows how to do it the proper way unfortunately though, the new firmware version is not available on his product code yet, a very typical for Nokia, slow in delivering upgrades to the rest of the world.

They should know that their market didn't only involve Europe, there number one in Asia, so they need to protect this status by delivering firmwares and updates on time with Europe before Asians get tired of being ignored at shift to other mobile phone manufacturers.

Okay, back to 5800 XpressMusic, the device remains to be elusive in Asia's Only Latin City, Zamboanga City, South Peninsula. I've been to the City lately and I couldn't find readily available units yet on big mobile shops around. They only have a per order basis that reached to as long as 3 days to deliver. Maybe there ordering it in eBay.ph, wild guess hehehe, and waited for it to be delivered by the seller before they hand it down to their customers. Anyways a big event thought is brewing up in one of the shops, their setting up a huge booth for 5800 XpressMusic with matching sound boxes and stereo bluetooth headsets that goes along with the trial units to be displayed. What I like though is the 5800 designed floor mat with arrows that leads to the booth from the entrance.

It would only mean that a launch event was organized and that a very extensive campaign is brewed to welcome the phones touch down. I hope I can cover this event and bring live blog posts from the venue but unfortunately I have business matters to attend to.

Anyways, my next scheduled visit will be two weeks from now and hopefully by then I could see units on display already.

Nokia Reveals New Handsets, Again!

This might be a little late again, I was in the mountain for days, working my butt up thats why I have no news of whats going on in the mobile world, anyways Nokia, the worlds largest cellphone maker, gunned 5 new promising devices on their shelves at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. It was only weeks ago that Nokia announced few mid tier to low end devices, they probably have more hidden, waiting for perfect time to fetch them out.

First and foremost, the device that impresses me most, the newest Camera Flagship of Nokia , the N86, a dual slider monster that carries an 8MP Carl Zeiss camera, 28mm wide angle lens (first time on mobile phones), focal aperture of F2.4/3.2/F4.8, mechanical shutter, 3rd generation Dual LED flash that work at the distance of 3.5 meters among other great camera specs goodies, which only mean one thing, the best camera phone ever created to date.

N86 runs with Symbian s60 Feature Pack 2, has a 2.6 inches AMOLED screen, 8GB internal memory, FM Transmitter, WIFI, HSDPA, Dedicated Music and Gallery keys, Accelerometer, A-GPS, N-Gage, Kickstand and a 1200mAh battery among other best features. All the possible ideal specs were here for my next phone upgrade that's why I'm seriously consider buying this phone when it comes out on June 2009. I always wanted to own a dual slider before and AMOLED, my N85 dream, their is no other reason for me not to missed this phone. How I wish it will be release sooner.

Another stunning device announce was the Nokia E75, a business smartphone with side slider qwerty keyboard for optimal messaging experience. Supporting Symbian OS, S60 rel. 3.2, 3.5G HSDPA, WIFI, videos, music, and graphics on a 2.4” QVGA display and orientation sensor, this phone is verymuch considered a power house device. The device carries also an integrated A-GPS, 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera, USB charging with simultaneous data transfer, Bluetooth 2.0 +EDR, and USB 2.0 High-Speed among others.

This is like an extension of my fab phone, E71, yet more better and bolder with the addition of a full QWERTY keyboard, the metal back cover really looks awesome on videos which implies robustness and hardy and the dual key option added a new dimension on phone usability. Would this be another success story for Nokia in the business minded market. Well see.

Nokia E55, another business smartphone under is a half QWERTY candybar form with an ARM 11, 600Mhz processor speed, another fast phone from Nokia, Symbian OS, S60 rel. 3.2, 3.5G HSDPA, 2.4 inches screen, 3.2 MP Carl Zeiss camera, A-GPS, Accelerometer, Flash Lite 3, Digital Compass, 1500mAh battery which claimed to withstand a month without charging (shocking), with several extra buttons along the D-PAD area which would mean, a lot of shortcut keys among others, this is considered as a serious mobile power contender.

Already gaining popularity due to its unique and attractive design, E55 will compete with E75 among the business power users specially that they have typically the samewhen it comes to features and specifications but the Slide full QWERTY might matter a lot to more people than the cramped half QWERTY of E55 but then E55 will also come out cheaper than E75, a big factor to consider in chossing a mobile device. Which between the two excel more, that we will have to find out soon.

More New Devices tomorrow folks!

The 419 Scam

Ladies and Gentlemen, Friends, specially those who don't know have no idea, I would like to introduce to you The 419 Nigerian Scam, the most well known advance-fee fraud in the internet world. It is a confidence trick in which the target is persuaded to advance sums of money in the hope of realizing a significantly larger gain.

The 419 scam originated in the early 1980s as the oil-based Nigerian economy declined. Several unemployed university students first used this scam as a means of manipulating business visitors interested in shady deals in the Nigerian oil sector before targeting businessmen in the west, and later the wider population. Scammers in the early-to-mid 1990s targeted companies, sending scam messages via letter, fax, or Telex. The spread of email and easy access to email-harvesting software made the cost of sending scam letters through the Internet low. The number "419" refers to the article of the Nigerian Criminal Code (part of Chapter 38: "Obtaining Property by false pretences; Cheating") dealing with fraud.[6] The American Dialect Society has traced the term "419 fraud" back to 1992.

You might have thought its an old issue being it in existence for quite sometime now but then the need to inform the public on this scam is still a must since not everyone knows about it and the increasing number of reported victims all over the world are strong grounds for me to raise alarms. If you only know the number Scam of emails I receive, you would really be concern about it since they might be hundreds of people out who were also sent with the same letters and might be preyed to this. This is still very active, PLEASE BE AWARE everyone.

This all started when I posted my email address on eBay.ph as reference for inquiries about the item I'm selling, this made my email address part of their active list, I should have not posted my email address on eBay, please don't do this folks, you don't want to wrestle with scam emails everyday, don't you?

Anyways here were some of the emails I receive..

oqpsm@eircom.net

With Due Respect,

I am the manager of bill and exchange at the foreign remittance department of African development bank (ADB). I crave your indulgence as i contact you in such surprising manner. But I respectfully insist you read this letter carefully as I am optimistic it will open doors for unimaginable financial rewards for both of us. In my department we discovered an abandoned sum of Thirty Five Million US dollars (US $35m) in an account that belongs to one of our foreign customer who died along with his entire family in a plan crash.

Since we got information about his death, we have been expecting his next of kin to come over and claim his money because we cannot release it unless somebody applies for it as next of kin or relation to the deceased as indicated in our banking guidelines but unfortunately we learnt that all his supposed next of kin or relation died along with him at the plan crash leaving nobody behind to come for the claim.

It is therefore upon this discovery that I now decided to make this business proposal to you so that the money could be released to you as the next of kin for safety and subsequent disbursement since nobody is coming for it and i don’t want this money to go into the bank treasury as unclaimed Bill.

The Banking law and guideline here stipulates that if such money remained unclaimed after five years, the money will be transferred into the Bank treasury as "unclaimed fund". The request for a foreigner as next of kin in this business is occasioned by the fact that the customer was a foreigner and a Burkinabe cannot stand as next of kin to a foreigner. I agree that 35% of this money will be for you as a foreign partner, in respect to the provision of a foreign account, 5% will be set aside for expenses incurred during the business and 60% would be for me.

There after I will visit your country for disbursement according to the percentage indicated. Therefore to enable the immediate transfer of this fund to you as arranged, you must apply first to the bank as relation or next of kin of the deceased indicating your bank name, your bank account number, your private telephone and fax number for easy and effective communication and location wherein the money will be remitted. Upon receipt of your reply, I will send to you by fax or email the text of the application.

I will not fail to bring to your notice that this transaction is hitch free and that you should not entertain any atom of fear as all required arrangements have been made for the transfer.

I need a capable and able person who will handle and manage this fund because it is not a small amount of project. You should contact me immediately as soon as you receive this letter. Trusting to hear from you immediately.

Yours faithfully,
Mr. Philip Themon.
Bill and exchange manager,
African Development bank ADB.
..........................................................................
Please be guided friends, this are fraud letters who would asks money from you, run your bank accounts down and can even threatened your life. If you receive this type of letters, never ever replied to them, ignore them at once.

Pagadian City? Pension House?

If you happen to stop by Pagadian City, Zamboanga Peninsula, Philippines and you don't have a place to stay, I was able to check in to this Pension House that offers cheap rates and comfortable dwelling place, the Napsales Pension House along the downtown area. It very easy to locate, just locate Smart Wireless Center which is a few steps away from this place.

Hit?

The place is decent enough, although it has a neon signage outside that looks like a pub house in a red light zone, it doesn't represent its night impression at all. It has affordable rooms of as low as Php300 pesos for non air conditioned rooms and Php400 pesos for regular air conditioned rooms with no comfort rooms. They have deluxe rooms that have comfort rooms inside but cost Php600 pesos, not my fab, air conditioned rooms by the way have TV's and their beds and pillows smells clean enough.

Misses?

Hallways from the main building connecting to the extension building was pretty narrow, it's not properly contoured, no proper signage and signs among others. What if accidents happen like fire, it will be difficult to escape out of the building. Windows were not properly screened and secondary locks on doors were absent. Televisions have no cable, I wonder why they didn't put cable on their TVs since it will only cost them a single cable line to provide every rooms with cable connection. Best of all, no telephone.

If you don't mind all the misses I mentioned, then this is a good place for you. I have stayed here twice already and so far I haven't encountered any problem yet.

That's all for now, folks!!

Most Played Songs On My N82

As of February 9, 2009, this are my Top 20 tracks "Most Played" in my Nokia N82 Music Player. The phone has this feature as part of its Playlist menu, this are the top songs that I had repeatedly played ever since, marked, backed and recorded by the phones system and memory capability. I'm a big fan of this feature since I like charts and if you notice, I have two featured charts in this blog, the weekly Movie Box Office and the Billboard Hot Ten. Anyways, here are the tracks often played among the 105 songs I have on my Music Player.

1. Sepultura - Dead Embryonic Cell
2. Flo Rida - Right Round
3. Pit Bull - Krazy
4. Sepultura - Ratamahatta
5. Sepultura - Arise
6. Saving Abel - 18 Days
7. David Archuleta - Angels
8. Nick Lachey - Patience
9. Sepultura - Troops Of Doom
10. Cueshe - B.M.D. (Bring Me Down)
11. The Offspring - Kristy, Are You Doing Okay?
12. James Ingram - If Ever You're In My Arms Again
13. David Archuleta - Barriers
14. Sepultura - Roots Bloody Roots
15. Ne Yo - Mad
16. N Sync - Pop
17. David Archuleta - A Little Too Not Over You
18. The Fray - You Found Me
19. Madonna - 4 Minutes
20. Chris Brown - Take Time, This Time

If you notice, my list has varied genre's and there not all new, even James Ingram's classic song came out on number 12, that's because I have a very unique and diverse musical taste, I love metal on a certain time being yet can easily be change also to R & B, Pop, Ballad, etc. in an instant, nothing concrete and its not even based on mode swings, its inimitable, something I can only understand.

So far Metal still tops everything with 5 songs on the list, while R&B has Chris Brown and Neyo on it, Dance grooves were also in the picture as well as pop and light rock. It might be change in the latter days, that's for sure, but whatever it might be by then, its a by product of never ending love to everything music, old and new.
