Smart Telecommunications, the country's biggest and widest mobile phone network launched its Q2 Mobile Phone Plan offering 9 Nokia phones on the list out of the 15. I call it a Smart way since this is a Nokia country and people adore the brand, and yes I'm now going to shift from Globe having my Plan filed and approved by Smart. I'm just waiting for the Sim Card stock to arrive and I can't wait to dished out Globe, the iPhone crippled company.
Back to the Plan offering, Smart added new handsets, (bravo!!) and shed off some, sad to know that one of the eliminated phone was my beloved Nokia N82, it would deter thousands of Smart users who wants to own this phone and another thousand who will discover how great it is out of luck. Hope they'll consider bringing this phone back to add up more N82 owners to our growing legion. Aside from N82, N95 8GB and N77 were nowhere to be found as well as the E71, the best E Series phone to date.
Among the new stellar phone added, the current flagship phone Nokia N96 which can be avail for free under the Php3,500 Plan and bundled with MyTV service, the only mobile TV service in the country. N96 has a 2.8 inches 16 million color screen, Wi-Fi, 5MP Carl Ziess camera with Tessar Lens, Mobile TV, 16GB internal memory and FM transmitter.
Another stellar device on the list was my dream phone, the Nokia N85 which can be avail for free under the Php2500 service Plan. N85 carries a powerful specs having a 2.6 inches AMOLED screen, Wi-Fi, 5MP Carl Ziess Camera optics with Tessar Lens, Symbian 60 feature pack 2 with over the air (OTA) update, FM transmitter and a 1,200 mAh Li-Ion battery which is a must for a mobile computer. I was once, seriously considering this phone as my next upgrade not until the N86 8MP and N97 came along so its a do or die between the two now. N85 is a great phone for people who are new to NSeries line up.
Mid teir phone Nokia 6220 Classic replaces the N82 on the best camera arena in the list carrying a 5MP Carl Zeiss Camera with Tessar Lens and Xenon flash. Wi-Fi though is missed out on the 6220 Classic as well as other great feature like 3D graphic accelerator, Dual CPU among others. The phone was offered free at plan Php2,500 which is a great mismatch against the N85. Smart should have offered this phone on the lower Plan bracket having less features compared to N85. Smart people, if your reading this blog, 6220 Classic is not worthy on the plan bracket, lower it down.
The rest of the plan like Nokia 6600 Slide, Nokia 6120 Classic, N5000, 3120 Classic and 2600 Classic are old featured phone on the list with emphases on 6120 Classic now offered free on a lower plan bracket from Php1,200 to Php800.
Smart will surely continue its lead on the Telecom provider front having the most number of Nokia phones on their lists. Its how they convince me to shift to their service and it will also do the same to other hard core Nokia supporters. Keep it up!!
