One of the most known issue of the omnipotent Nokia N82 was the battery life which was rated by most users as average but with the latest firware upgrade, the v30.0.19, an extension was given to the power source to as much as 3 hours music playtime while up to 6 hours standby time. I have featured my small test of it in my past blop and I will stand by my discovery.
Aside from this, battery will be further enhance with Light Control, a third party application software for S60 Nokia Devices that allow users to control light use by the device minimizing or maximizing it according to their own preference. Minimizing light emission would surely save energy while maximizing it surely address another known issue of Nokia N82, dim screen.
Light Control allows user to control almost every light in the device like Primary Screen backlight, which they can either be turn on or off. You can use the turn off mode during daytime maybe with sunlight basking in the horizon, it will surely conserve energy.
Screen Brightness can be adjust also from Level 1 to 100, the lesser the Level the Dimmer the screen and the more energy is conserve. Highiest level here by the way can be compared to the screen brightness of N95, so their is no valid reason why the phone needs to be hacked just to adjust screen brightness.
The Primary keyboard can also be controlled, either be turned on or off, I would say that keypad light is uncessary anymore since I have already memorize every buttons and what it contains, I dont even look at the keyboard anymore while texting.
Light Time Out, option also helped a lot here, user can set it to the lowest time interval of 1 second or highier, still another power saver.
There are two Control Methods to choose from in Light Control application, the Control by TimeOut or Control by Status. My most prefered method was the first one since it saves energy more and that I can set timer on it as to when the Light Control takes effect.
I can say that this is a must have application for every symbian s60 user. To be able to control means being able to do more. Power is Life in mobile phones.
