Excerpts Saturday! Reasons behind Pinoy Votes!

87 Days to go before the National Pools and the competition is tightening up in the Presidential race, a very interesting scenario which I believe will become the thrilling election yet in the country’s history. Who will prevail in the end? No one knows for now, we just have to breeze ourselves and enjoy the ride as destiny unfolds.

Most of us might have their own bet at the moment but what’s interesting is the reason behind this choice. Upon going around for a while and talking to people in random, the following reasons came up with the topmost as the most mentioned.

Noynoy Aquino:

1. Has well known parents, booth a figure of Democracy, and from a famous family.
2. Brother of Kris Aquino, a well known celebrity and endorser.
3. No corruption charges. “I am not a thief” campaign
4. Genuine Reformist.
5. Endorse by famous celebrities.
6. Has a good platform of government.

Manny Villar:

1. Filthy rich, could gave them money during the election.
2. Always seen on advertisements.
3. Good campaign jingle.
4. Endorse by famous celebrities.
5. Comes from a poor family.
6. Helped a lot of people.

Joseph Estrada:

1. Famous movie action hero.
2. Pro poor.
3. Have not finished his Presidential term.
4. Long political history.
5. The most experienced presidential candidate.
6. Mis-trialed of the corruption charges filed against him.

Gilbert Teodoro:

1. Intelligent.
2. Can continue to projects of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo (GMA).
3. Good job being the National Defense Secretary.
4. Comes from an influential Cojuangco family.
5. Has a potential.
6. Underdog.

Dick Gordon

1. Long political experience.
2. Always seen on advertisements.
3. Did a good job as an SBMA Chairman.
4. Actions done during the abduction of Red Cross Volunteer.
5. Not corrupt.
6. Bolted out by Lakas-Kampi coalition.

What’s interesting among the lists are that of Manny Villar’s, the number one reason why they will vote for him is because he will be giving away huge amount of money during election, take this, he is said to give as much as PhP5,000.00 for a straight vote from President down to the local candidates, amazing isn’t it? Will he be proud if ever he wins in the election not by the mandate of the people but by the mandate of money? Another interesting scenario on Manny Villar’s list is that he is often promoting what he has done as a politician but it seemed that people doesn’t bite into it leaving it in the least reason why he should be voted, get this, people cannot find his sincerity because he have orchestrated all this only after deciding to run for president at about 4 years ago.

Joseph Estrada is still gaining votes based on popularity but what’s interesting in the list is that chunk of people still think that he is innocent against the corruption charges filed against him, amazing isn’t it, after all those evidence presented during the trial. Can popularity bend justice?

Gilbert Teodoro might be railing behind in ratings but it’s surprising to know that people choose him because he is intelligent. He might be intelligent for real but will this be enough to change the country? Another surprising info is the GMA factor on him, I thought this is going to drag him down but it was in fact the opposite. I’m here in Mindanao and GMA made a lot of projects here so I truly understand why he is ripping such. His low performance in rating is a GMA effect rather on the national scenario, call that ironic.

Noynoy Aquino was a clear front runner gaining most votes among the people I talked to but the reason why he is voted is clearly base on popularity, the Cory and Ninoy aura that came first on the list with another popularity effect banking on his sister’s as the second but then he is the only candidate who was known by voters to bring “genuine change” to our corrupt and rotten political system. People were confident that he will not steal anything from the government, that he can solve the very reason of poverty.

It seemed that Filipinos were tired of corruption so they are looking for a candidate who can address this issue and I’m one of them thats why I’m also voting for Noynoy Aquino all the way. Genuine reform is what we need in this country to move forward, not just a person who helps or do something to leave an impression, not just person who is popular, not just a person who thinks his poor, not just a person who thinks he is intelligent. He must have the heart and will for “CHANGE”.
