Nokia sweeps top awards at GSMA Mobile World Congress 2012

Nokia proves once more that it remains a global leader in mobile communications with prestigious awards won at the recent GSMA Mobile World Congress 2012 held at Fira Montjuïc, in Barcelona, Spain.

The GSMA Mobile World Congress is the world’s largest annual trade show in the mobile industry that brings together industry leaders, key players, mobile operators, device manufacturers, technology providers, vendors and content owners worldwide to showcase the latest in mobile technology through exhibitions and conferences provide a venue for participants to collaborate and network to strengthen and explore high-growth opportunities in the mobile phone business.
This year’s GSMA Mobile World Congress featured the theme “Redefining Mobile,” which showcased how mobiles, now more than just a mere communication device, have innovated the world today through its various uses – now serving as books, health monitors, payment transfer devices, social connectors and tour guides. This year’s theme also offered a glimpse into where mobile has the potential to go next.
One of the highlights of the event was the Global Mobile Awards, which recognized the greatest, most creative and innovative products and services driving the mobile ecosystem today and into the future.

At the Global Mobile Awards, Nokia scooped the prestigious Best New Mobile Handset, Device or Tablet Award for the new Nokia 808 PureView. The first smartphone to feature Nokia’s exclusive new PureView technology, Nokia 808 PureView features a revolutionary 41-megapixel camera with the highest performance Carl Zeiss optics to date, redefining the quality of today’s camera phone photography.

This new cutting-edge smartphone also created quite a stir among visitors of the Nokia Booth at the Mobile World Congress. They raved about the Nokia 808’s PureView technology, which uses oversampling to combine up to seven pixels into one “pure” pixel to eliminate the visual noise found on other mobile phone cameras. On top of that, users can zoom in up to 3X without losing any of the details in the shot and without creating any artificially created pixels in the picture. The oversampling technology also allows for significantly improved low light performance than previous camera phones.
Apart from the prestigious award for the Nokia 808 PureView, Nokia likewise received more top awards at the GSMA Mobile World Congress 2012. Nokia was awarded Best Feature Phone for the Nokia C3-00; Tom’s Hardware Best of Show, Laptop Magazine’s Best Budget Smartphone, and Computer Active’s Best Windows Smartphone for the Nokia Lumia 610; and Computer Active’s Best Education Service Award for Nokia Mobile Education.

Having availed the Business Starter Pack 7 months ago with a 24 month locked in period, I cannot take advantage of this plan offer yet. If only Globe would allow plan upgrading like in the US, I would definitely do so specially if they will adopt Nokia N8 instead of N97 in the Business Executive.

Nokia C3 Event Reminder, Up Close and Personal

It’s already July 31st folks, the day to go big time and have a good time with the luscious and stylish Nokia C3. I’ve been to one of the Nokia Flagship Stores yesterday and got a hold one up close, the phone looks incredibly hot! Its runs in between Jeniffer Gardner and Jeniffer Aniston hotness meter so imagine that for a description. Anyways, I was really surprise with how the phone looks like, it was so good that it would captivate your imagination, enigma, I would say. Holding it is equally as great, it has a curve back that perfectly fit my hand giving an illusion of thinness. The back cover has also a metal-like plastic cover giving a solid illusion like that of the E72, a huge leap forward to Nokia’s design and engineering.

I haven’t got a chance to try the software though but given the fact that it has a fast processor and running the mature Symbian 40 operating system, I don’t see any problem that would arise from it. It would also have Nokia Messaging service on it and the rest of the connectivity options so it would be more than work horse device.

Nokia Unleashed 3 New Social Networking And Messaging Phones

Nokia has announced three new handsets - the Nokia C3, Nokia C6 and Nokia E5 - designed to put better messaging and social networking tools in the hands of more people around the world, at affordable prices. These new handsets feature full QWERTY keyboards, and enable access to a range of different email accounts, IM communities and social networks.

"Our messaging device range is very successful," said Anssi Vanjoki, Nokia's Head of Markets. "Services that provide easy access to the world's consumer and corporate email and instant messaging are really popular on our QWERTY smartphones such as the Nokia E71 and Nokia E63. People want the best messaging and social networking experience on an affordable device, whether it's sending a simple text or instant message, an email, or a direct message from their Twitter account. The Nokia C3, Nokia C6 and Nokia E5 are made for just that."

The Nokia C3 is the first device to bring a full QWERTY keyboard to the world's most popular mobile phone platform - Series 40 - and is the first in the range to enable access to social networks directly on the homescreen. People can view, comment, update their status and share pictures to their favorite social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

At an estimated price of EUR 90, before taxes and subsidies, the Nokia C3 also comes with Ovi Mail and Ovi Chat, meaning first time users can set up email and chat accounts straight from the device, without the need for a PC. Other notable features are the Wi-Fi connectivity, a two megapixel camera, rich color 2.4 inch screen and support for up to an 8GB memory card. The Nokia C3 is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2010 in a variety of appealing colors, including golden white, slate grey and hot pink.


The Nokia C6 is a Symbian-based smartphone combining the benefits of a 3.2 inch touch screen with a full slide out keyboard. The large screen provides a great Internet experience, as well as offering access to Facebook feeds directly on the homescreen. A full suite of email and social networking capabilities means the Nokia C6 is perfect for people who want to stay up to date while on the go.

Expected to be available in the second quarter of 2010 at an estimated price of EUR 220, before taxes and subsidies, the Nokia C6 has an impressive feature set including a high quality five megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, and Ovi Maps with free walk and drive navigation. In addition, thousands of apps - from games and videos to news aggregators and web services - are available in the Ovi Store.

Rounding off the trio is the latest addition to the Nokia Eseries range, the Nokia E5. Designed for those that want to be productive in both their professional and personal lives, the Symbian-based Nokia E5 follows the successful blueprint of devices such as the Nokia E72 and Nokia E63. The Nokia E5 combines high quality business features with all of the personal networking and entertainment capabilities that a busy professional expects from a smartphone.
