Some Technological Advancement, Nokia and Power!

Nokia Research Center in Cambridge UK comes up with a breakthrough that could change the industry of mobility in the future, a new source of power among mobile devices, ambient radio waves. This electromagnetic radio waves were normally emitted by FM and television broadcasts, microwave ovens, mobile phones, wireless LAN, Bluetooth, GPS, two-way radios such as Land Mobile, FRS and GMRS Radio among others. Quite interesting to note here because all this waves can be found anywhere and almost every space which means unlimited used of mobile devices, anytime, anywhere eliminating dependence on electricity, we will never experience low battery ever again.
It’s based on the same idea as an RFID tag, converting electromagnetic waves into an electrical signal. The focus of the research team’s work is on increasing the range of frequencies that can be harvested. By focusing on everything from 500 megahertz to 10 gigahertz they expect to increase the chances of getting enough power.

The team are already harvesting 3-5 milliwatts using current prototypes. The target is to hit 50 milliwatts, which would be enough to (eventually) re-energize a phone that is switched off.

Energy saving isn't it? The implication of this technology will be unlimited source of power which can be brought to a higher perspective, a possibility of energy independence via natural source saving earth and mankind.
