TinTin Coming To The Big Screen

My fab comic character during my hay days, TinTin, has finally invaded the big screen as a 3D motion picture and being backed up by the industry's biggest ensemble. Just found it out today, thanks to the ever reliable Twitter where I'm getting the freshest news tidbits every now and then. Shooting date have already started last January this year so this is a drown post, its just that I was very excited upon knowing this that's why it gain a spot on my blog and I don't have Twitter before so I'm not very much up to date with movie events.

A close friend of mine introduce me to TinTin and have me borrowed several adventure comic books that why I became a fan. For those who have no idea who TinTin was, he is the hero of The Adventures of TinTin, a series of comic strips created by Belgian artist Hergé, the pen name of Georges Remi. Set in a painstakingly researched world closely mirroring our own, the series has continued as a favorite of readers and critics alike for 80 years.

Tintin is young Belgian reporter who succumbs into the world of cases and mysteries solving them per adventure. He is aided in his adventures from the beginning by his faithful fox terrier dog Snowy (Milou in French. Later, popular additions to the cast included the brash, cynical and grumpy Captain Haddock, the bright but hearing-impaired Professor Calculus (Professeur Tournesol) and other colorful supporting characters such as the incompetent detectives Thomson and Thompson (Dupond et Dupont). Hergé himself features in several of the comics as a background character; as do his assistants in some instances.

The Adventures of Tintin, The Secret Of The Unicorn, will be its first cut among several sequels, good news since where about to see several movies after this one, and will be directed by no less than Stephen Spielberg and produce by Paramount Pictures and Sony Pictures. It's going to be a big movie and perhaps will become one of the most anticipated. The movie will feature Jamie Bell as TinTin and Daniel Craig as Red Rackman, supporting cast includes Andy Serkis, Nick Frost and Toby Jones.

Showing date will be on Christmas, 2011.

At the moment, only two films are planned.

The first will cover parts of The Crab with the Golden Claws as well as Secret of the Unicorn. The second film is Red Rackham's Treasure and this is currently in pre-production. I expect filming to take place at the beginning of next year.

There are no plans for any further films at the moment but if the first two are successful, I'm sure there will be more but it is doubtful that Jackson or Spielberg would direct them.

Thanks for the info dude, great to know that you run TinTin dedicated twitter account c", Definitely follow you for more updates.

I'm excited about the film, its about time, TinTin saga have been in existence for decades.
