First Day of the Nokia World 2009 wasn't only banging, its rocking loud and clear sending a halcyon signal to the rest of the mobilephone world that Nokia is on top and there to stay.
A week ago, I receive and email from the PR department informing me about a live streaming feed directly from Stuggart Germany for the opening of the Nokia World 2009 at around 9AM CET, so I took the liberty to watch the event which was around 3:00PM here in the Philippines. I have to admit, I was very excited about it since it will be my first and the fact that there will be a lot of things in-store but then the streaming didn't really came as I expected it to be, due to my locations weak internet signal, I end up listening only to the audio feed without visual, quite a big bummer actually, but then thanks to the ingenuity of nokia bloggers who were in the event, they were sending live and continues still images online of what was happening that I was able to peak the least on how everything looks like.
Okay, going into the most important parts, the announcement of the 3 new phones to add up to Nokia's diverse line up, the Nokia N97 Mini which is a cut down version of the Nokia N97 but with a lot of new stuffs incorporated like the enhance UI, new applications like the Lifecasting where it partnered with Facebook and will bring a Twitter like environment by enabling users to update their Facebook status and location details directly from the device’s homescreen, flick scrolling, new homescreen widgets, 28 hours music playback, improve version of Ovi Maps among others. Best of all its cheaper and will come in range of color options like the very hot looking Garnet edition. Nokia N97 Mini will be sold for 450 Euros before tax and subsidies. Release date, 4th Quarter of 2009.
Next in line, the hottest announcement of the day, the Nokia X6, among the very first XSeries phone, which sports a very unique and intuitive design (love the design), 3.2 inch touchscreen, a scratch resistant glass surface which I believe would mean that its capacitative (the very first for Nokia), 32GB of storage, 35 hours of playback time (this freaks me out, since I've been wanting this for soooo long), 5MP Carl Ziess Camera with autofocus and dual led flash (again, first of its kind among Nokia's music oriented phone) among others. I could consider this perhaps my very next phone to own but unfortunately, I cannot purchase this here in the Philippines because we don't have Comes With Music Service here and Anssi Vanjoki, Nokia VP made it very clear on his statement this morning that the phone can only be brought with Comes With Music and no other else. The Nokia X6 is expected to ship in the fouth quarter of 2009 for an estimated retail price of EUR459 before taxes and subsidies.
Then finally, the Nokia X3 Slider, an S40 device with again a very sexy and futuristic design, 2.2 inch screen, 3.2 MP Carl Ziess Camera, an active homescreen, Nokia audio messaging among others. Then again the course of the Comes With Music Service which is being tagged along this phone, meaning, this wont be sold out to the rest of the world. Anyways, its surely is a great addition to the XSeries family. The Nokia X3 goes on sale in the fourth quarter of 2009 for an estimated retail price of EUR115 before taxes and subsidies.
That will be a wrap up for now on the Day 1 of the Nokia World 2009. Will there be another phone to be announced tomorrow? That we need to find out since I'm getting hints around the corner that Nokia have a new imaging king to replace the N86 8MP, peeping stealth mode, worth watching! c",
