Nokia N8 Challenge: Night Shoots

As the saying goes, you can only test the greatness of a certain person or thing if you subject it to a harsh condition, for instance, a tree on the middle of the storm or a storm in the middle of the trees?

I will be challenging the Nokia N8 in a hay-shed as merciless as possible to show how far it can go with its top of the line specifications and features.

The Nokia N8 carries a 12MP Carl Zeiss optics with 4000x3000 pixel, Autofocus, Xenon flash, 1/1.83'' sensor size, ND filter, Geo-tagging and Face Detection.

First challenge, Camera and Flash. The Nokia N8 will be compared to the Nokia N82, my most reliable dark shooter for the past two years and will be tested by scene modes; automatic, close-up, night and night portrait. Venue of the toss up, my infamous garden in the front yard beyond the Ovi Wall of Fame, sounds familiar? You beat!

Nokia N8 vs Nokia N82

Scene Mode: Automatic, 1.5 meters away from the subject

Scene Mode: Automatic, 3 meters away, no specific subject

Scene Mode: Close-up, top shoot

Scene Mode: Close-up, side shoot

Scene Mode: Night, 4 meters away from the subject

Scene Mode: Night Portrait

Last but not the least, the renowned Ovi Wall of Fame minus two stickers.

Summed Up:

I’m not a photo expert to give an accurate details and opinion over the taken images but I can surely gauge the better ones. The Nokia N8 is better than the Nokia N82 in almost all of the scenes. Natural color, that’s what I can purely say about the imaging prowess of N8, its xenon flash is far better in lighting the overall conditions of each scene. The Night portrait though was an N82’s turf; it gave my good friend Sponge Bob a better color and contrast than the N8, at least it won one challenge.

Stay Tuned for more fierce challenge!
