Nokia on Fight Back Mode

Nokia buzzed up today as they announced their 3rd Quarter Result for 2010 as well as future plans for the Symbian and Meego platform.

Some of the important highlights includes
- Net sales of EUR 10.3 billion, up 5% year-on-year and 3% sequentially
- Services net sales of EUR 159 million, up 7% year-on-year and 1% sequentially; billings of EUR 325 million, up 89% year-on-year and 10% sequentially.
- Decrease Net Sales in the Asia-Pacific region by 3%
- Unify environments for Symbian and MeeGo
- updates and upgrades for existing Symbian^3 users to Symbian^4
- renew product creation to increase responsiveness to consumer demands and reduce time to market
- streamlining certain corporate functions and corporate research activities that will result in a reduction of up to 1800 employees globally

Overall, its a big news for Nokia, good news for consumers and bad news for employees. Biggest news was the healthy profit of Nokia this quarter which means that they were able to stop the declined trend in revenue earnings. Good news for consumers because for the longest time that I have wished for this to happen, Nokia will be finally doing an upgrade of Operating System like iOS and Android does, Symbian^3 will automatically be upgraded to Symbian^4 and to some important future updates. Consumers will never have to be outdated ever again. Bad news for employees because the company is cutting 1800 employees globally, a huge number.
