Latest Mobile Phones Spotted In The Little Hongkong Of The South

Pagadian City is nowhere to be left out this days, it has become one of the most prominent city in the south having just recently been recognize as the capital city of Zamboanga Del Sur. Its called the Little Hongkong Of The South because of its sloping terrain straddled by the mountain range on its north and west boundaries, likely same to that of Hongkong or should I say, worst.

Withholding a major shift in political geography comes an economic development with trade and business flourishing in all fronts. One of the major change in this city is the opening of the most prominent chain of malls in the country, the Gaisano Group of companies opening a gateway for more shops to be accessible particularly prominent mobile phone shops in the country bringing with them the latest devices. Only one shop has this phones for sale though, the Cellworld, located at the third floor of the Gaisano Capital, while the rest of the shops has N95 8GB as among their high price value.

Among the newest phone spotted where Nokia N97, the latest flagship which cost at around Php33,000, expensive tag here compared to others, nonetheless taking advantage of their position of being the only shop selling the device within the area. Nokia N86 8MP was price with Php24,800, a bit cheaper than the Nokia Flagship Stores which costs Php25,800. E75 lands on Php 22,000 price marked, a bit much compared to others. To my surprise, this shop even have 5730 XpressMusic already on their shelf with a tag price of Php16,800, impressive! Bad news for me though, they don't have installment plans for credit cards so I will need to travel to Cagayan De Oro or Zamboanga City to buy my Nokia N86 8MP very soon. I just hope they would offer this in the future, who knows I might buy Nokia Superman in their shop next year.

Celebrities and Their Mobile Phones

I don't watch Television that much due to my busy and techy lifestyle, often times I'm on my cellphone during my free times, texting or surfing the web, or infront of my Laptop ticking out just about anything or roaming around the ville with friends and even if I had a chance watching one, I usually end up channel hopping between my favorite foreign channels like History, Bio, Fox News, Discovery nor HBO, no local channels on site. I just watch Local channels by chance when my Mom or my sisters or rather my staff in the hospital watch their favorite soaps or noontime show. It is also the only time I got a glimpse on Local celebrities and I don't even focus on them but on the gadgets and mobile phones their carrying. Call that a keen eye for mobile phones.

So far among the local celebrities I saw with mobile phones in toe were the TV personalities with regular shows. Majority of them where Nokia phone users of course, very much expected from being in a Nokia country and majority uses high end smartphones.

Most noticable of course at least in my point of view is my Nokia N82 which I'm very much familiar with in any angles. Celebrity users includes Jojo Alajar, the biggest Michael Jackson celebrity fan in the country, in his interview with Mo Twiter in the ANC channel. I also saw Assunta De Rossi and Iya Villana using the phone in one of the local soaps. Rufa Mae Quinto was carrying this phone in SOP while Christian Baustista owas caught carrying this phone on ASAP.

Rea Santos of Balitang Q was carrying a Nokia N95 8GB in one the opening video of the newscast. Ruffa Guiterrez was also using the N95 on the Buzz. Leo Martinez and Michael V carries E90. Willie Revillame has an E71.

Kris Aquino was very vocal about her Blackberry while Mark Fernandez dose out his Apple iPhone on the soap opera Kim Sam Soon. Karyll of ASAP have an iPhone and a 5800 XpressMusic at the same time.

More celebrities and their mobile phones in my upcoming posts, hopefully I will get a chance to watch local shows more but I don't think I can dare hahaha, kidding c", Watch this space!

Bruno, Aboard The Starship Enterprise

This is not a joke, I did saw Bruno and Star Trek at the same time or should I say same day. c", As the title of the article connotes, Bruno was separated by a comma thus giving it a separate emphasis on the next group of words which refers to Star Trek movie. It was like seeing disaster and triumph unfold with Bruno getting the disaster tag with Star Trek owning the victory chant. I was just lucky enough to watch Bruno first then the Star Trek movie next because if its the other way around, my Sunday would have ended a catastrophe.

Bruno was one of the most worse movie I saw ever, it was a very cheap, low blow class comedy basking on nudity and coition. If you don't want to see a corkscrew with balls bouncing around in the screen, don't watch this film, throwing up is the worst scenario I can imagine when you watch this and I think only people with sick mind will do a movie like this. If only they didn't do catchy promotion for this film like the iPod and baby swap trailer and the butt exposure scandal with Eminem on the MTV movie awards, I would have not gain interest in watching this. No wonder why this film was banned in several countries, plus the fact that it has become one of the worst performing film in holywood box office with a 75 degree nose dive down, its simply and unimaginably groose!
On the other hand, the Star Trek became one of the best movie in my all time shortlist. It was unexpected because I wasn't really a big Star Trek TV fan and I consider this film a competition of Star Wars, and knowing that I tend to hate competitors of my fab stuffs, it was very much far fetch. The story line of the film did all the magic, it was nicely laid down and very clear to follow, then they pinched it up with action thrills and awesome special effects, it became perfect. Maybe the fact that I wasn't expecting to much on the film that's why it struck me big time and if I'm going to gauge it against the Transformer movie, it will came out higher by points. Its just so happen that I have a preconceive notion of what I want to see in the Revenge of the Fallen and that the film meets those expectation so it came down as great but not as shinning as Star Trek.
The film wasn't perfect, the story has loopholes and that distracted my attention a bit, in particular, the scenario where the Remulen attacked the Valcan planet, why didn't they have security force within the planet with 6 Billion inhabitants as they were noted to be a superior race when it comes to knowledge and technology, they should have at least a bunch of security force that would have check the situation first hand rather than waited for the Starships to arrive from another galaxy, it just didn't make sense right there. Another loop hole was when the Remulen attacked Earth. How come it wasn't reprimanded by the remaining force left on earth specially that it has a space station docked in space. With such a huge starship like the Remulen, it would have been detected easily. Then last but not the least, the invasion of the Remulen ship, if it was very important and pivotal, why did they not transport as many soldiers inside the ship since it is very important for them to take over the vessel instead of sending only Sparks and Jim to the Remulen.
Anyways, this holes though did not affect my overall impression of the film, it is by all means, one of my best movie of all time and everyone should watch it.
Just a small snap, a Nokia phone was featured in the film, no word thought about the phones name or if it would be release commercially. The Nokia Futuristic ringtone, the most downloaded app on Ovi Store was also beamed loud and clear across galaxies.

Mobile Phones In The City Of Flowers

I would say, Zamboangenues have a big Love for mobile phones as they have a unique way in expressing it thought a lively and healthy trade called the Cellphone Barter that runs along the narrow busy sidewalks surrounding the Universidad De Zamboanga and extending towards the front porch of the City's Public Market. Individual traders which counts to more than two dozens cramp along this area bringing only with them stools to sit on and a plastic rectangular container where they display there mobile phones for sale, call that a mobile store for mobile phones.

Its basically a small buy and sell business of 2nd hand phones where in traders got their supply from people who sell used or defective phones which is normally bought cheaply then in return sell this to the public with a competitive price to that of the mobile phone shops. Traders would usually buy this units at a quarter to the original price or even cheaper when it comes to defective units, fixed it a bit themselves and sell this a quarter cheaper to the shops price earning them a more than half of the phones original price.

You might wonder why this 1st party sellers would agree to sell their phones to the traders cheaply, well that's because majority of them were notorious snatchers that looms around the city and this people doesn't care about prices, in fact, they might not even know the real price of the phone in mobile shops. What matters to them is that they will get something out of the item they've stolen. I do hope the Zamboanga City Authority will look closely to the activities around this area because it encourage mobile phone snatchers to steal since they have a market to sell them. Units being sold here were mostly old models and if not fake ones that comes from China or Saudi Arabia. Usually the Saudi's were called Class A counterfeits as they have almost identical feature to that of the original while the China clones can easily be distinguishable. Buyers here should be very vigilant in selecting phones, they might end up buying fake ones at the original price point or better be yet, not to buy a phone from here to discourage illegal activities surrounding the trade.

As I scroll down the alley, I saw a 5800 XpressMusic being displayed and it cost Php11,000, that's about 4Thousand cheaper than the store price and take this, complete accessory and everything on the box, a great deal. I couldn't say thought that its not defective or if they haven't open the unit and change parts inside, that needs to be look closely upon. I saw several N93's sold at Php7,000 but the casings where worn out, I suppose you have to spend a the casing foe it to be usable. XpressMusics were widely popular also, but majority where old non colored phones like the Nokia 1100, 3310, 3210 and even the legendary 5110. Prices of this phones ranges from Php400 - Php600 or even cheaper if you have a good dealing skills.

Globe Telecom's Load Tipid Plans

I have a Smart Gold Plan at the moment that's why I envy this Plan from Globe big time which combines postpaid and prepaid service into one. Subscribers of this plan can set their own credit limit and when they reached the said limit, the account automatically switch to prepaid giving subscribers the option to reload whenever they want not like a regular plan where it blocks your number preventing the sim card from sending messages or making calls. It was indeed the most flexible plan to date. Bravo Globe!

I wish this becomes a standard system among telecom operators because this will definitely eliminate excessive use of credit thus giving the users an utmost control over their account. If only Globe has a fare practice in billing accounts, I would have cited them as the best postpaid account provider but unfortunately they dont. I made mention in my post like a year ago about Globes confusing bills and as far as I can remember, a representative of Globe called me up to clarify the bill after reading my blog but it still came out confusing. They billed me with 2thousand the least when in fact before I shifted to Globe, I have a Smart Gold account with the same plan package and I never even have an excess even once out of the two year locked-in period.

Oh well, that was in the past, hope they have change!

Nokia Ovi Store Update!

Time for a very IMPORTANT Nokia Ovi Store update in this part of the world, no SIGNIFICANT changes taking place in the store's application offering if your within the Philippine area of responsibility, you will still be getting FREE and only a handful of applications, mostly trash and non usable at least in my state of technical thinking.

I prefer not to call it a store but an amateur download site because its not selling anything at the moment and because it only have 112 stuffs to download. I cant believe Nokia Ovi Store was this worse and incompetent, my goodness, blistering barnacles! I thinks its about time for Nokia to resurrect the legendary Mosh to bring back interest and support of Nokia fanatics specially here in the Philippines and the rest of the world that is not covered by Ovi Store. Come to think about it Nokia, why do a lot of people young and old supports your products, its because of the unlimited possibility of personalize and application downloads you offer to us and you took that away. I myself consider this as the main reason why I choose Nokia, the unlimited possibility. No wonder why your losing grip among younger market, you just don't know what they want anymore and you fail to adopt to their growing and changing needs.
As of July 13, 2009, the store(amateur download site) only have 83 downloadable items under the Applications menu, mostly social networking and only a few usable application worth mentioning like, Fake Messages, Profile Scheduler by Liquid Air Lab (this was Dr. Jukka's app way back), PinPoints which can pinpoint location of any images, documents on Nokia and Google Maps and Worldmate 2009, everything else are rubbish. Items under the Games menu have only 9, not difficult to count in here and all where Java games sadly and there not even fun to play with. 15 Items on the Audio and Video Menu, of course they also not worth mentioning and finally 4 Items under Personalization Menu. Worth downloading in here, the Star Trek Futuristic Ringtone only, nothing more. So what do Nokia wants for consumers to feel in this travesty, that we should be happy with this incompetence and I believe its not going anywhere better for the next few years or so.
How I wished Nokia did not axed down the Mosh website, at least there, I can download tons of free stuffs of about anything, themes, tones, wallpapers etc. The lack of Nokia support among Asian countries in particular will be a major cause of its downfall in this part of the world and I have to site LG's download store in this regard because they are about to launch there own applications store with Asia as their main focus. I thought that would be nice to look upon and who knows with their perseverance and dedication to focus Asia among its services and support, they might snatched my vote to their favor.

Harry Potter Came Out Short!

I'm not just talking about Harry Potter's height here but also the latest installment of the Harry Potter movie in general which I found to be a disappointment. I have watch the movie last Saturday, lucky enough that Ozamis City has a simultaneous showing with Mega Manila, and it just fell short to what I expected it to be.

To be very honest, I find the movie boring and not magical enough, it was like I was waiting for something to happen yet it did not came through, where's the battle scenes, the funeral, where's my common sense, what the hell just happen? I believe the previous movie was more better, the wand battles where there and special effects among others. I just hope they did it purposely to bring a grand action packed finale movie in the Deathly Hallow, cross my finger!

I was wondering why there where a lot of positive comments about the film on Twitter, I suppose this people where out of their minds and have not read the book themselves because if they did, they would have felt the same way like I do or maybe I was just an action freak kind of nitwit that I was expecting a Transformer, Revenge Of The Fallen like scenario in the movie. Maybe, but come on, their where a lot of parts on the book that could have satisfied this but they choose not to because there crazy. I don't think they were cost cutting rather due to world financial crisis that they refrain from using special effects because the movie have wreck a 4 Billion Dollar income for the past years so its should be out of question.
Okay, maybe they were thinking about the kids who will be watching the film and they would have choosen to preserve its "child friendly movie" notion, besides it is a movie for kids and the young at heart, hmmm.... that explains everything.

For my odd rating on this film. Half score for Half-Blood Prince, 0, because I only enjoy "half" the film. (Ratings Scale: -50 highest, 50 Lowest)
